May 26, 2006 10:14 AM- ah, Spring

God I feel good.

Isn?t it the best when you can say that?

Part of it is simply the pure relief after Wednesday night when I was in the caustic grip of anxiety and agitation ? something totally hormonally driven. Still?when I?m in the throes of that raging desperation and I tell myself it?s just hormones, or that I can ease this by shifting my thoughts I also tell myself to SHUT THE FUCK UP YOU MEASLED PUSTULE OF NEW AGE BULLSHIT.

So, you can imagine how lovely it is for that inner conversation to be gone. This morning the sun was again behind clouds?but they were more gossamer than stygian. And, the air is sweet and so fragrant with Spring it defies description.

Driving to work, I pass a long stretch of a kind of swampy mass?today everything there was utterly still. The sky and trees were reflected in the water, as if I were driving alongside a massive mirror with giant sticks poking through it. Not so much as a ripple from a beaver?s head or the scratch of an insect?s toes to disturb the surface.

It was gorgeous.

Oh hang on. Today?s Friday and Monday is a holiday. Let?s be real. Surely that?s why everything seems to have more sparkle and magic.

Don?t you think?

Oh, and-- new opine on Junebug has been posted.

got 2 cents?

Agreed - holidays are magic. In fact, it's a sense of magic I forfeited when I went freelance, which is basically a bisyllabic euphemism for "working my ass off 24/7 with no guarantee of income this month".

You may be a MEASELED PUSTULE but you are my fave MEASELED PUSTULE! O,o and oh how I love that term!!! it ranks right up there with Ricky Gervais's "Chubby Funster"** for me! But what I'm really here to say is... how freaking wild is it that i picked up Junebug yesterday to watch this evening and here you are with an opine on it (which I just skimmed quickly enough to know it captured you, not wanting to spoil any of it for myself!) ** from when he was a guest on the Daily Show, expounding on terms the British oress use to describe them. The Handsome Guy and I practically wet the bed, such was our delight with this term. MEASELED PUSTULE also ht my right in the bladder, so you know it's a gem!!

Zow! I feel good, I knew that I would now! Hormones, oh the hormones. I was with you on the conflicting inner voices, but now they've gone away, leaving me to enjoy my frosty wine and three day weekend in peace. No big plans, just little ones, and that's the way I like it. Have the most loveliest, sunshiniest of weekends, o lovely Bluepoppy.

wow. okay... we just finsished watching Junebug and I read your opine all the way through. And then i read some of your other opines, but I'll get to that in a sec. So, bottom lining... i was enthralled. i thought the acting was amazing, but it was the direction the got me... the off pacing, the odd rhythm, the still moments, the camera holding on empty scenes,,, those night light trees. The way nothing was all neatly bundled, the way the edges were frayed and raw and there were deep pockets of mystery left unprobed. It WAS outsider art, each character an outsider of sorts. Each with there own unique way of understanding the universe... or if not really understanding, then at least each with their own way of moving thru the confusion, their own outsider vision. I will think about it for a long time. And about your other opines... how is it I didn't know about your Sofia Coppola addiction?! Me too, but I think maybe for different reasons. I love that her vision is so completely unique, personal. I love her audacity. I can't WAIT for Marie Antoinette. Cannot. Wait.

Are your inner conversations the same as mine? Impossible! Could it be that we have the same inner demons, switching in btwn our bodies at diff times of the month???

Agreed--I loved Junebug, too. I'm sure you've seen Embeth before though...trying to think... OH!...she had a critical role in "Schindler's List"...that's where most of us first saw her. Did you see that? Walk the Line...hmm...didn't understand all the Oscar fuss...but yes, the scenes onstage were good...and I give 'em props for having the chutzpah to actually sing.

Sometimes Australia is known (amongst Australians..and from time to time New Zealanders) as the Land of the Long Weekend. We have them ALL OF THE TIME!! I'm not kidding. We have AUstralia Day, Anzac Day, Labour Day and Queen's Birthday long weekends and that's all before May!! We have one in June, and one in September ..the reasons for which I can never remember..And to top it all off, In Australia, the basic annual leave entitlement for honest working folk is four weeks! In my last job it was 6 weeks ( i was a TV journalist...) the only thing was, I never got to take 'em..! Go Aussie!

Love your description of the wetlands area - I could picture the smooth as a mirror surface (but with sticks poking through!), reflecting back the sky. Glad you've got the joy-bug this weekend :>)

Yay for getting rid of inner voices! Mine have been quieted a lot lately and it's wonderful. Yes, spring and a holiday weekend probably have something to do with it.
