March 26, 2006 6:07 PM- il faut que je m'en aille

Throughout the Artist's Way, Ms. Cameron repeatedly asks us to take note of synchronicities that pop up in our life. HA. Let it be said, ever since beginning this journey twelve weeks ago (and despite the trepidation with which I began it) there has been nothing but synchronicity everywhere I turn.

And, though this particular phase is ending this week, for me, it marks a beginning.

On Wednesday, I catch a god-awful early flight to Seattle, Washington. From there I travel to the town of Port Townsend for 4 days of spectacular art immersion at Artfest.

Thank the Holy Roman God of Friends and Countrymen that I wasn't on a plane oh, about 3 weeks ago. That's to say, if it weren't for Janeen, I would have been arriving at Port Townsend a full month early wondering where everybody was.

Swear to god. The email exchange went something like this:

Nina: Port Townsend--cool. Let's hook up for coffee, or something.

the idiot child: Excellent-- it's March 1 - 5 so let's get together on Saturday the 4th.

Nina: Er, you sure about that?

the idiot child: Sure about the dates? Of course! I've bought my tickets and everything! I'm positive.

Nina: Um, the website is saying March 29th through April 2.

Whereupon I began a freakout on the highest order-- but let's give a shout out to Southwest Airlines WHO I LOVE WITH BODY AND SOUL who rearranged my tickets oh so sweetly without undue snickering at my IDIOCY. God.

And of course to Nina without whom this whole magical trip would've been a disaster of the sort that even I would have to step back and question my ability to function in the world. Because people, had she not alerted me to my dysfunctional date-setting-- I would have TOTALLY flown to Seattle and then had to turn around and come home.

*twitching*

But. Hey! I have guardian angels all around me just like Mr. Magoo and so off I go on Wednesday to an experience that promises to be amazing.

And, to top it off-- Liz is going to be in one of the same classes with me! Woot.

So-- I won't be posting here for a good ten days or so-- FYI. However, I would be remiss if I left Lil without her requisite Henry fix.

Of course, he's putting the total guilt trip on me, too. Here he is flashing his wound and giving me the big, you can't leave me eyes.

When that doesn't work, he shifts into play mode-- "c'mon, bitch-- catch me if you can, c'mon try and catch me."

And of course, when that doesn't work either, he addresses me in perfect French when he says, "tu t'en vas? Cela ne m'interesse point."

got 2 cents?

Have a wonderful, magical, inspiring trip! And don't let Henry guilt-trip you too much (although the bit where he flashes his wound is pretty damn impressive).

So my French beau thinks your dog is beau de chez beau. I think I might have fallen in love with him. Your dog, not the Frenchman, it's too late for that. Is it wrong to have a crush on a dog? Yeah. Yeah it is. Have a great time!

I am so excited that you're coming to my corner of the US. I love PT so much, and am happy to have the excuse to go visit there to meet you (and my mother is extrememly glad about getting to see her only grandchild). I'm honored that the universe chose to use me to help you, because you know I adore you, dear Blue. May Artfest rock your world!

I want you to know that in my parents' neighborhood I counted NINETEEN stray dogs, and I completely fell in love with a dog who had Henry's face, wrinkles and all, and a German shepherd body. If I'd been able to find him when I went back, armed with pancakes to cajole, I'd have adopted him. Or her. And promptly not known what to do with a big dog, small apartment, and 4 cats. But Henry's love spreads across the country...
