March 02, 2006 7:16 PM- some lion!

The flu. She is toying with me.

I've gone home sick both today and yesterday. 24 people in my office are out with some vicious virus. I've read how many of you in blogworld have suffered. This is not March coming in like a lion. This is March coming in like a plague.

But am I sick? She who guards her health like the Sacred Island Temple of Philae, ill? Not really. But yes. It's like that. It comes in waves and keeps me from thinking clearly.

However, seeing as it has struck most violently each day at noon, I suspect there's a chance it is not so much the flu but an ordinary case of worker's blight.

Still, it has cast a pall on the week and kept me from doing much of anything creative, unless getting dressed and driving to work counts as creativity. Although *sounds bell* neither snow, nor rain, nor sleet, nor ice nor illness keeps this blogger from her morning pages! But is that a good thing? Seeing as I pretty much fill them with blah blah blah-- I question my great pride in keeping on.

All of which is to say, perhaps I will be less frequently present here. Or, perhaps I will simply being posting photos for a bit til I get back on my feet. Which is a pity because I have had SUCH a rumination on the concept of receiving.

In this moment I am frustrated because I read on someone's lovely blog a whole post about receiving and that is what spurred me, but for the life of me-- I cannot remember who- but if it is you please remind me as I left a comment at your post saying I was going to post about it.

And then. AND THEN! Before I had even been able to formulate my thoughts about receiving and all that that entails (how my mother cannot receive and how that is so harmful even though she doesn't realize it is) and how I wondered if my problems with receiving are conditioned? And how I know it is fully 50% of the giving process is to receive well and I LOVE to give I LOVE to give-- it is such a pleasure and yet how I struggle to receive.

AND THEN-- I know, I left you hanging-- in my mailbox were two fabulous gifts from bloggers which just blew my socks off which is another WHOLE issue for me because the bloggy world has been an incredible wellspring of giving-- I have received so many SO MANY lovely, thoughtful, gifts from fellow bloggers and I never put it up here because I don't want to embarrass them (because I like to give anonymously and don't want attention drawn to a gift-- but then, maybe others don't feel that way and WAH-- so complex for me) and I don't want to make things weird because . . *drumroll* I. Don't. Know. How. To. Receive.

So. This is not the post on receiving. I do not have my thoughts clear on that, yet. But I will. I will. Because I love to give and it would hurt if what I gave wasn't received, and blah blah don't you wish I DID edit myself when I posted.

Can you tell the flu? She is messing with my head?

And then! It's only the second day of March and every weekend is booked already. In fact, this weekend is double-booked cause we are having a birthday party here for some friends (she is turning 30 and beside herself about it! HAH-- I'm giving her a layette because she is a BABY!!! 30, I spit on you. PFFT) and then we just got a call and forgot that T's cousins are up for the weekend and arriving tomorrow.

(The flu, she had best be moving on).

Hence, if there's nothing more than a couple of photos in the next little while, you know why.

Also, the following is for Paige who seems to have experienced a resurrection just like Jesus . . . cause she loves all things kooky. original. funny.

If you don't know Nataliedee drawings go here here but if you do, enjoy this interview mookychick did on her here.

got 2 cents?

For your sake I am really hoping that this flu you speak of is NOT the flu that wreaked havoc in our household this past weekend. Because I'm sure we would have gladly traded for a head cold. Please tell me you don't have that flu!

ok--this flu is NOT to be messed with. my suggestion: please, please, pleeeeeeeezzzzz don't go to work tomorrow. take a "I'm-not-gonna-get-sick day". Really, it's the only way! your dogs want you to stay home. your couch wants you to stay home. there's a cup of nice soothing tea calling your name...and an afternoon nap. :) please take care of yourself. one day of work isn't worth it. let the germs die.

Poo on the flu, I say. If that wasn't your post on receiving, I'm looking forward to the real thing, because this one was excellent, despite the incoherency and spitting.

Kick that flus but by staying home and lounging on the couch all day long...that kills it every time. I just had a random encounter with a homeless man last night while I stepped out for dinner at work. He asked me for money, so I pulled some out and then he said he didn't want it. Then we got into this huge discussion about giving and receiving. It was rather odd. I finally had to give him the money and just walk away as he was having all this shame about asking for the money in the first place.

Receive with love and graciousness dear Blue Poppy, as we all love to receive what you give as well (although don't keep spreading that flu around - I know - it sucks!)

The morning pages are *supposed* to be all blah, blah, blah. That's what they're for, to clear your brain of that so you can do other stuff with it. And that is one of your best fotos ever. So lovely. I'm a sucker for a sweet little cloud. Stay well!

Oh BP, I feel your pain. I'm still in the last stages of my cold/flu thing, which on Tuesday will be THREE weeks of pain. But, I've found something that helps me to sleep a full night through: a bit of whiskey in a glass, some sugar, some lemon, some honey, heated up for about 40 seconds....when you take it out of the microwave the sharp scent totally clears your passageways and it tastes delicious going down and makes your throat feel good for long enough to fall asleep...hope it helps!

Awh. Get better soon!! At least you've got Nyquil stateside. I need to hear more about your AW journey... I'm on Week 3 now. Technically I probably should be on Week 6 or thereabouts, but I keep losing track of what I am doing. (Been very good about my morning pages, though.) Trying to avoid next week's Reading Deprivation... How far in are you, and how is it going? Are you seeing any results yet?

I hope you feel better soon. Reading this gave me a pat on the back for feeling the way I have been, too: remarkably similar to how you've been feeling, the worst of which being butterheaded and dropsy.
