May 26, 2007 9:14 AM- happy weekend

The photo above was not taken today, but it could've been.

This morning the sun warmed the dirt road. Daisy and Henry trotted ahead of me-- all around us was a thick, gentle stillness. It was so lush and green everywhere words like Eden, limberlost, and sanctuary rolled across my mind.

I've been too lazy to take a camera out to capture some of it to share with you and for that you should be sending me hate mail.

This decadence of birdsong and soft, fragrant air carried on a breeze and wild exuberance of green should be shared-- but photos don't even capture it-- they really don't. Which is why I have given up trying.

It's a sensation of being submerged into sweetness.

Of course, had I had my camera with me it would have been right at hand as T and I sat at the kitchen table drinking coffee enjoying the birdfest outside our window when a TURKEY landed on the roof of my car.

He gazed longingly at the small birds flitting about the feeders. You could see he was wishing to be something he was not. He gave us a mournful look before leaping down and waddling into the woods.

But damn-- all we saw was this colossal span of feathers and wings that descended out of nowhere with a thump and we thought an eagle had landed. Anyway, missed photo opportunity #237,304,300,299.

It is a beautiful weekend-- I wish you all moments of deep content punctuated by most peculiar surprises. And, how can I not share the blossom of this season? Our very own, scrotum flower is in bloom.

A bientot, cherries.

Sounds like you're having a 'ball' over there! Yes, I took it there. Your life in nature makes me envious. It is pretty here today, too, but that just means the car repair guys on the corner aren't wearing shirts. Have a wonderful weekend!

How shocking! A turkey! And how sad to not be a little sparrow... Ah, the jealousies of bulk. Enjoy the beauty of spring!

That was one of the most enduring images I have carried away from magical Soliden: the bird feeders with their happy, satiated riot of life. *love*

Peculiar surprises can certainly be some of the most fun ones. Such fantabulous photos. I don't know how you ever drag yourself away from that scenery long enough to even blog - but I'm certainly glad you do. Thank you for sharing some of the beauty with us!

If only scents could be transmitted via the internet. It would really help, but we only have words and images at our disposal. Thank goodness you're so talented with words! Happy summer!

Lovely color for the flower, but what an ODD shape, huh? What is the common name for that flower? Not your 'common' name for it...

Scrotum flowers! LOVE THEM. And "submerged into sweetness" just about sums it up. Hasn't it been GLORIOUS? I can only imagine your enchanting Soliden words burst into bloom and leaf.

Your shots are like nectar! We've just had continuous rain for a whole bank holiday weekend. Your green and sun and flower are simply joyful to mine eyes.
