September 17, 2005 6:52 PM- et alors

Bref. Tuesday through Friday midi was work work work during the day and drinking drinking drinking at night. But when I learned I would probably have to go to Brussels to visit a customer next Thursday-- I left the tradeshow at noon on Friday to try and get some more time for me in my favorite city.

And is it still my favorite city? Mais oui. It grows more beautiful with each visit.

I found a yoga class on a small street in the 8th arr (Paris Yoga, 9 rue Magellan--for those in Paris who might be looking for such a thing). Terrific class. So good. Came out around 6:30 p.m. The air was fresh and crisp and the sky was still blue so I decided to walk back instead of hopping the metro. I meandered through the 16th arr, crossing Pont d'Alma as the sun did a downward facing dog across the Seine. (Sorry no pics-- I had my yoga gear but no camera with me).

Strolled through the backstreets of the 7th as people shopped for a Friday dinner at the patisserie, boulangerie, charcuterie-- the smell of bread and poulet roti filled the air. And gathered up some goodies for myself as well: des macaroon natures, une demi-baguette, du roquefort, du rosbif, du yaourt, du l'eau, du buerre et de la confiture.

Found my way back to my teensy apartment on rue Dauphine and settled in for an early night after enjoying my supper.

Guess I should've let the guy upstairs know I really needed some sleep. At 11 pm, about 65 (I'm guessing, but really like 65! very loud people) filled the apartment above and the stairs RIGHT NEXT TO MY DOOR with some partying that would make Holly Golightly proud. I actually had to listen to a woman telling her lifestory to another woman right outside my door. If only her lifestory had merited the 27 minutes she dedicated to it . . .

They were some kind of jet set melange with French, English, Italian, Spanish flowing freely. I thought to get out of bed and head up to join them (seeing as I was already part of the party), but was just too damn beat.

Woke up late as a result. But still, managed to rendez-vous with the inimitable Coquette.*

And guess what we did.

No, really. Try to guess.

Oh wait-- do you not see the latest, hottest, "plus cool" trend going on in Paris these days? Look again.

We love you Mrs. Kennedy! Merci pour les plus cool t-shirts.

*Coquette, I know I said I would email you the photos of you before I posted them to ensure your approval, but you said I didn't have to and even though I insisted I would, now I am too tired and either I post them now or never. J'espere cela ne te derange pas.

got 2 cents?

Your pics are making me chartreuse with envy. I won't be going back to Paris until spring when I plan to tour my sisters around my favourite city so, until then, I'll have to live vicariously through the blogs of others.

Looks like you had a fabulous time. I'm only slightly jealous. But that centaur statue bloke really needs to get someone to pull the AK-47 out of his bum, 'cos that just cannot be comfortable.

I really don't see how Paris didn't EXPLODE with two such lovely, beautifully chic women parading down its streets. There should be a parade in your honor, no really. Sigh. Paris sounds like it's full of magic, and so bring back a bit of the dust and baptize Soliden, don't you think? And I agree with the fussy t-shirt. There are certain people who will only be slayed with words. ;)
