September 06, 2005 4:18 PM- more Mookie

UPDATE: I have a new love. This site is awesome (found via kottke, thanks Jason!). But am too busy to actually write a whole new post. Hence, the ever effective "update" feature.

Remember Mookie?

Remember Georgia?

Well. A long, long time ago, Mookie shared a house in Somerville with Georgia and two other people. I was reminded of this the weekend before last when Georgia and a bunch of friends were up visiting. She had asked me about Mookie and was really saddened to learn that we never talk anymore. Ever.

"But you guys were so close!," she said. "I always envied what good friends you were."*

"Yeah, well." Was about all I could say.

Then, this weekend I get a call. From Mookie. He wants to come up this week cause the wife will be away. He will bring his 2 year old that I have seen exactly TWICE (sacrilege!). And, a nanny so that he can have time to hang out with us in the evenings etc.

How fabulous, non? Yes! Except for the fact that I am leaving for Paris on Monday and already taking vacation so the idea of taking Friday really sucks (but I will and I have and whatever). And, I have a Borders book event on Saturday at 2pm so our Saturday together is shot. Wah.

But, a blessing is a blessing and this will be his first visit to Soliden since we bought the property 3.5 years ago. At that time the road would break wheels off a Chuckwagon and there was nothing but dense woods as far as the eye could see.

He's in for a bit of a surprise. And, I'm anxious. I so want to reconnect with him and have the time and space to do that but, geez-- the timing sucks. *sigh*

Hey. *smacks self on the head* Shut up, you. It's a great thing any way you slice it. My baby brother's coming to visit!

I have missed him. A lot.

*Not as close as Angelina Jolie and her brother, mind you.

got 2 cents?

Me? A trouble maker. Naw. Hey, let's make our own Eat Local Challenge?! A little harder for me b/c the CSA link showed few and far between in Colorado. Only farmers markets, which closed down in October around these here parts.

I hope you enjoy both of your visits, the one with Mookie and the one to Paris. Siblings are the best, I get to spend some time with mine and her progeny this weekend as well! Yay!

Hey, take the day off! Life is short. You can always make up the work, but you should seize the day and the chance to spend time with loved ones.

All these things seem to happen at once, don't they? I am going on a 4-day vacation to southern Oregon, followed by a visit by my best-friend-from-England, followed by my Cousin's Weekend in San Diego, followed by my Coffee Girls Beach Weekend, followed by a visit to Bonnie at Colgate...yikes, too much vacation-I am exhausting myself!

Ack. I feel for you. My kid brother, to whom I used to be very close (although again not to a Joliesque level) lives in the wrong country (or, arguably, I do) and I've only seen him for a grand total of 4 weeks in the past 2 years. It sucks.

Well, since you don't want anyone going to Paris for you, I'm willing to go to your place and spoil the Butterscotch boys and the 2 year rotten.

I KNOW this feeling.....settling yourself in for a "I can do it all"...."I can do this"...."I'll be TIRED, but I CAN DO THIS" type of whirlwind vaca. The pics. of the house, the dogs, your property....lovely, lovely....JUST LOVELY!
