July 27, 2005 2:39 PM- not back, no, no

Lizardek misses me! And even though I don't do guilt (I don't do guilt!), she has somehow got me to slide back in here for a momentary update on my life.

Zee book, zee book:

~ we have gone from 250,000+ on amazon rankings to 29,188 (as of today). this ranking thing-y fluctuates like a menopausal woman without estrogen supplements so do take it in stride, but baby, THE TREND-- look at the TREND! That's six digits to five digits!

~ in the next two months we have book events scheduled at: 3 different Borders locations; The Harvard COOP; The Trident Cafe (Newbury Street in Boston) for starters. We also have some stuff scheduled in December for Christmas sales. And we are being carried by WalMart, Target, Bed, Bath & Beyond and Urban Outfitters. Whoa.

~ there are some absolutely too kind, too wonderful blogging buddies who also have some activities underway and I am so deeply appreciative of this effort I don't know what to say except I will have to be having a whole lot of first-born babies to pay everyone back.

Zee house, zee house:

~ we move in mid-September. Which is great except I will be in Paris from September 12 - 23, oops. Or, as T likes to say, "WTF? Now I'm moving us in while you sit bare-legged sipping kir in some cafe?" And I reply, "oh no darling, think of it as two extra weeks for you to finish up before I help you move us in."

~ building a house is very stressful. Even for people who are in love. There's lots of physical labor involved, endless physical labor (well, not for me, but you know, I feel his pain). And lots of money pouring out of your bank account. And lots of people who tell you lies (LIES!) about when they will do what and how much it will cost. And if you are working seven days a week from 6 am to 9 pm in all weather, it may be tough if you are married to a dilettante who skips off to Boston or Paris when she needs a little break-y-poo.

~ the house is amazing. I can't post pictures or you will all hate me forever and even though I thought I was tough and never needed anyone, that was before the blog---I've become addicted to your love. So, no photos for you.

Zee butterscotch boys, zee butterscotch boys:

~ 11:30 pm Saturday night. Porcupine adventure. Quills EVERYWHERE. Ollie had a mouthful and looked like he was dying or wish he could (read, blood. Everywhere). (And, I guess I should mention here that it was T (all alone at Soliden) who had to deal with this in the middle of the night as I was down on the Cape partying like it was 1999, so all this "we" stuff is, of course, the royal we). We called our beloved vet OUT OF BED and met him in surgery. $600. (Including the flowers I sent on behalf of the terrible twins to the vet's office to say thanks for being so freaking amazing).

~ Henry is part Sharpei. The terrible heat this summer has affected his skin (Sharpeis are notorious for skin issues). It makes me very sad and I just want to soak him in a bathtub filled with milk and honey and feed him grapes. Yes, I am his love slave.

Zee job, zee job:

Oh, you know I can't talk about it but let me just say ASS. UP TO. IN ALLIGATORS.

got 2 cents?

Woo-hoo! Every day I check to see if perhaps you've updated even a teensy bit -- flipped over the closed sign just to keep us on our toes -- and today, I've been rewarded! So glad to hear that Soliden is progressing apace, and that you will be traveling to Paris before the move. You'll post pictures, right? And musings upon the city? And you'll talk about food? Congrats on the book, and give the boyz all sorts of pets from the Internets, who miss them terribly.

Yay! A BluePoppy post! But we knew you were lurking and commenting on ours, so you weren't entirely out of commission. Hope the pups are better soon from a fellow love slave to her pack.

>:D I am not the least bit feeling guilty. Hee! Thinking of all your other fans who will also be so happy makes me happy, too. I DO miss you when you don't post. You can be loose and lovely and flitting about AND maintain your blog!! It's possible, I know it is :) Double drag about the porcupine attack, by the way, that sounds so incredibly painful. Did you read what I wrote about your book on my LJ?

How, tell me HOW could I possibly have missed this the moment you updated?!!! I only check in here like thirty times a day, all crinkled with anticipation! O, Poppiest!!!! You're going to FRANCE?!!! France, france, where the girls look down your pants!!! O, fabulous!! And yes, we will be insanely jealous of you, but post pics of Soliden anyway. Not posting pix of yer Manse is like making us go thru the labour, and then running off into the woods, cackling in the most evil fashion imagineable, with the newborn babe in your clutches before we even get to run a finger along the little peach of cheek. Unfair!!! And o..... the poor little puddings! how very ow-some for them both. Kisses on their little leather noses. smooch smooch and smooch. And give some to T (aka the Handsome Woodcutter) too.

We're all in the same boat - everyday checking back to see if you threw some crumbs our way - and HOORAY here you are. Thank you, Liz, for your plaintive wailing on our behalf. And such good news on the BOOK - you're going to be in WAL MART. That's really all I needed to hear. And Target as well? Can I just stand in the aisles for you and badger people to READ THIS BOOK? What if simply sneak up on people's baskets when they're not looking and drop the book in? I'm telling you, I would so do it. Since I'll soon be married and poor, really, I'm looking for some cheap entertainment. :)

Don't worry about us...we'll be just fine...really, we will...we'll just sit here and wish you farewell in September as you flit across the pond to traipse around your favorite arrondissements for TWO WEEKS...only to return to your HUGE DREAM MANSE...which your husband WILL HAVE ALREADY MOVED YOU INTO...we won't mind at all...and pictures?...oh, my love, you tickle me...who need pictures??...we'll be perfectly content to just sit here and IMAGINE all the beauty that will be gracing your life... Not. At the risk of repeating myself for the hundredety billionth time...if I didn't love you so much I'd have to hate you. Smooches.

okay, you know...you are probably right about the hate thing and the no pictures just yet. though i think i could try to handle it and maintain the deep warm fuzzy feelings, some less devoted fans just may get disillusioned with jealousy as i am sure your home is to DIE for.

oh, but thanks for updating us. we like to see you peek in from time to time ;)
