April 06, 2005 11:24 AM- fixation, intermission

Our series on fixation will continue after this brief intermission. Sheryl has tagged us on a meme and we at bluepoppy, inc. take our bloggy responsibilities very seriously.

Please note: There has been a grave misunderstanding about the previous post. Because I was so fixated on giving you Jane?s story? Belinda has oh-so-wrongly come off looking bad.

PLEASE, people. Belinda is not to be blamed here. She has clearly and repeatedly told the publishers to cease and desist with the author tampering. To be used this way, particularly at her aunt?s expense (as Belinda cares deeply about her aunt and is a very sensitive human being) has been extremely painful for her.

So, stop with the bashing of Belinda. However, do continue on with the skewering of Dick King, the rightful villain in all this, to your heart's content.

On to the meme:

What book would I like to be?
Funny, the first title that popped into my head was The Story of O. But that can?t be right. Little Witch by Anna Elizabeth Bennett. There, that?s better.

Have I ever had a crush on a fictional character?
Um, I wanted to be Nancy Drew. Does that count?

What was the last book I bought?
Ooh, a curve ball. (Sh?t. I have to be honest?) *hangs head* New French Country Living. Damn, I am so busted.

What was the last book I read?
The Last American Man, by Elizabeth Gilbert.

What book am I currently reading?
The Power of Now, by Eckhart Tolle.

List 5 books you would bring onto a desert island.

The collected works of Moliere

A kick-ass, unabridged French/English dictionary

The Master and the Margarita by Mikhail Bulgakov

A copy of the complete works of e.e. cummings

Coconut Magic: 101 ways to cook coconut

AND, (thanks Lizardek) I tag Stephanie and Meg.

got 2 cents?

LOL!! I so love the coconut cookbook. How very practical. And I don't mind that you last bought French Country Living. You can still be my friend. :)

years ago a sexy flingy girlfriend, in a show of compatibility, brought over "the master and the margarita." we were so compatible that she subsequently forgot about the book and it found its way into my possessions. i put it on my bookshelf recently, i suppose i should read it now. and, if belinda didn't do all those drugs, the go gos might still be together-- lets not forget about that eh?

good choices! although, why do you need a french/english dictionary on a deserted island?

I so expected you to say something witty and sarcastical (yes, it's a word) in regard to what book you would like to be - and I am so tickled that you chose a children's story. Children's lit, does indeed RULE. :)

okay, i've taken a little nap to get rid of this headache, and having re-read all my commenture on this latest post, i just have to apologize. sort of made it all about me in here today, and that's not only boorish and unfunny, it's also just grossly misrepresentative of my delicate nature. -- i was only trying to say i have a copy of that book, i've never read it, maybe i will now, and that girl was totally hot. that's all. and that we had sex.

Oh! Little Witch! I wore out my copy when I was of an age. I really ought to track down another one someday, though it probably doesn't measure up to my memories. And you know, I don't do memes as a general rule, but I like this one.

So lemme see if I can summarize what we've learned today: 1. Belinda is not a heartless, selfish, gimme everything wench. 2. BP loves her the coconut and dictionaries. 3. We still hate Dick King. 4. Gatsby had sex with a hot chick. Did I get it all?

gatsby is cracking me up. great job on the meme, bluepoppy! I think it's very hard to play fair on the last question - it could be a long time you're on that desert island, and you're going to need more than 5 books, thank you very much.
