April 21, 2005 8:31 AM- spring break

This weekend (from Friday at noon until Sunday night) I am taking care of my friend's three children (14 months, 5 years, 8 years) and the dog! while her husband spirits her away for a surprise birthday celebration.

We won't even talk about the logistics of planning this as a surprise. Gah.

Then I am headed to Boston.

Next, my cousins from Paris arrive with their three children (8 years, 10 years, 12 years) pour un sejour aux Etats-Unis.

After which I am headed to the Brimfield fair for the first time ever and am so looking forward to it.

Donc, it may be some time before I have any new posts here.

a la prochaine --

UPDATE: The children are still alive and returned to their glowing, well-rested parents. I am still alive and savoring my freedom like never before. I believe my next bout of activism will center around making the ENTIRE MONTH OF MAY a holiday for mothers as one damn day just doesn't do it justice. Oh. My. God.

I am so tired I don't know if I will go to the fair or not. Depends on how things go with my cousins' visit . . . thanks for all your lovely comments, and yes, my friend is having me canonized.

got 2 cents?

my dear blue poppy, if absence were to make my heart grow any fonder i fear it will float away into the ... well i lost that one- have no idea where that was going- sometimes i nail these sentiments and other times the safety mat leaves impressions on my gymnast face. -- have fun; enjoy the spring air, buy something you don't need for your foyer, spoil your muse.

ahem...clears throat.... "are you going to Brimfield fair? Parsley, sage, rosemary and thyme...." warbled in my very best Art Garfunkel tone which sound nothing like Art, but rather more like a duck choking on marshmallows. But whatever. I have better hair. Revise that last bit. I have MODERATELY better hair.

I hope that your weekend with the little ones goes smoothly and that the fair is divine. You really are a wonderful friend to offer to keep their children... and as a surspise for her? That will probably touch her heart so much. All women should be so lucky to have a friend like you that they could count on. Much love.

You are a wonderful friend! If you go through withdrawl after the kids leave, you can have my 5, 8 year olds from Paris! The Brimfield fair sounds like great fun. You'll have to let us know what you find there.

I'm glad your time with the kids went well -- they probably had the time of their young lives, and will be clamoring to spend more time with you as soon as possible.

Hey Love, since you are being all generous. And what not. Would you mind watching my 4 year old son for about a week? You know, so I can go traipsing off somewhere for some alone time with me. Maybe I will take my husband. Heck, maybe not. Get back to me ok? And? Yeah, moms deserve the whole freakin month of May. Why don't you get that started.
