April 27, 2005 4:37 PM- *zzzzzzz . . . .*

As many of you know, if I were a deity I would be Vishnu ? the divine dreamer. Yes, that?s me?supine in silk pajamas and dreaming up the world. Although I don?t think I?d like to sleep on Ananta (the giant serpent that Vishnu is crashed on) the fact is I can sleep any place, any time, anywhere. Sleep is, and has always been, my great solace, my luxury, my superpower.

But not last night. No. Last night, I had to drink warm milk to send a signal to my brain to SHUT THE F-CK UP! after lying in bed awake for two hours. Feh.

As a result, today I am tired and there is no room for me to be tired as life just got BUSY all of a sudden and in case you didn?t know--- I loathe busy. Busy and I are not friends. I avoid busy like it were a leprous Jehovah?s witness. I do everything in my power to assure my life of its daily putt-putt rhythm. Still, I do not rule the universe. (Shocking, I know). And on occasion the forces around me send my sweet putt-putt engine flying down the hill. Whereupon I, like the hapless Jill following her man Jack, go tumbling after it.

This is one of those times.

~ The product I have been working on is gearing up for launch, which means instead of our morning ritual of standing around the water cooler counting bubbles, a rousing game of Russian roulette starts off the day. Oh, and the company where I work has been sold. Full-out strife has ensued. Villages are under siege. Pillage and plunder abounds. A militia stocked with provisions from vending machines and first-aid kits has been formed.

~ The final book pages arrived yesterday (without the cover). Meh. Maybe I?ll go to the BEA in June where it?s going to be launched. (NYC! c?mon I?d be crazy not to!!), maybe I won?t. Am feeling very petulant. Bratty. Childish. Someone spank me.

~ House decisions are now starting to come my way. Previously, it was all foundations, floor joists, sheet rock and whatnot. (As if I enter into those dialogues EXCEPT when my beloved tosses out the idea of copper flashing! Yeah. Like I?m going to agree to spend extra $$ on something that will be on the roof and I will never look at again). But now, it is time for?tile choices, and flooring choices, color choices, doors, door handles, bathroom fixtures, . . . GAH. Things I do care about. Things I do want to choose. But not now. I?m too busy and don?t want to be making decisions right now. Can?t we wait? Can?t we do this maybe next September? No. Gah.

~ People are having birthdays and graduations and anniversaries and reunions and weddings and they should all just stop. Stop. I am too busy for all these parties. Enough with the birthdays and graduations and anniversaries and reunions and weddings. Enough. You?re old, sheepskinned, and married. I don?t care. I am an old whiny hag full of piss and vinegar. Scratch my name from your list. I beg of you.

~ Did I mention my cousins are coming to visit the week before I have to pack up and move us out of our rental house? Yes, I believe I did. Don?t get me wrong. I adore my cousins. But do they have to visit now? Can they not wait until next September? No? Aieeee.

~ Did I mention we are moving out of our rental house even though Soliden is not yet ready to move into? So we have a tiny studio apartment above the garage of some people I don?t know but I expect I will get to know veddy, veddy well over the next few months. Gosh, I sure hope they love wild dogs!

And, I hear you-- if I am so damn busy, what the hell am I doing wasting time in blogville? Yes, don?t think I can?t read your thoughts. I can. That?s my other superpower.

got 2 cents?

Army's with first aid kits and vending machine supplies? What they need is to bust down the office supply door and take all the Swingline staplers. The red ones. Then they'd have a tactical advantage. Ha!

ahhhhh, a favorite phrase wafts into the comment: busier than a one legged-man in an ass kicking contest. I guess this would be the wrong time to say break-a-leg . . . Instead I shall say: it is always darkest before the dawn and: this too shall pass and: limes are always best serves with many small portions of very fine tequila . . . :)

oh! so much to do! Surely the cousins will be helpful packers. I mean, give them a glass of wine, a stack of thick paper, and tell them, 'Who rolls out the red carpet for you?' Sending much luhve out to you, my fairy blogmother.

After work my step-mom would disappear into her bedroom almost every evening for a nap. I never understood it as a kid, but now I've seriously given some thought to making napping my new hobby. Here's to catching some zzzz's!

A studio apartment?! Good lord, Soliden really WILL feel like a castle after that. I agree with Sam, put the cousins to work. (And, why oh why, do people think it's a good idea to visit when someone is trying to move?! Not that I'm speaking from experience or anything...) Sending you hugs and love and light as you shift into overdrive.

Good luck with everything. I know how you are feeling, as I am in the midst of preparing for my own move midway across the country. Lots to tackle, but you'll get it all done. And I agree with the others, get the cousins in on the packing, it can work to your advantage having them there. :o)

I hate busy too. I like it much better when all I have to do is the stuff I want to do. Good luck with your move, and the cousins and the studio apartment.

I'm waaay tighter with sleep than busy. Busy's a bitch. But I have to agree with Gatsby, that if we're talking about interior design, then it's all about busy. Crushed velvet and zebra skins. I liiiiike it. Green shag carpeting. I'm thinking Soliden by way of Graceland. Yeah, don't let Gatsby and I make any interior design decisions for you.

First of all...HORLICK's...that's the malted milk thing that we found in the UK that has helped Ross finally get some sleep...he is such a zombie some mornings after no sleep. Anyway, they probably have it in Canada and I have found it in English food/product shops. Secondly, doing the whole choosing-everything-for-the-house-thing is overwhelming but a necessary evil. I guess you'll just have to make the time...of course, I would love to fly out and do it all for you. I can't think of anything more fun (if you don't have a million other things to do at the same time)! Chin up, BP...

Aaah! I've had my Bluepoppy fix, I'm happy! As for you, me thinks you will get through everything just fine, especially if you remember to blog, so that we can give you encouragement, and laughs. Just concentrate on one thing at a time, don't let your brain overwhelm you with every single thing that needs to be done, all at once.
