February 26, 2008 7:39 PM- sparkletopia, baby!

Sometimes the literal and the figurative collide.

For me, incorrigible daydreamer that I am, it is a rude awakening when this happens such as now, such as when I am climbing up the side of a mountain with crampons attached to the bottom of my boots and a ski pole in each hand-- just to walk my dogs. With the 800 inches of snow that we have (and oh, hello, as I type this to you? Another 10 inches is coming down all around us) my daily walks have turned into climbing expeditions, which, you know, wouldn't be so bad if I was into that kind of thing.

Let me be clear. When someone, most unwittingly, suggests we go rock climbing for a fun weekend adventure, my first impulse is to club them with a full bottle of chianti.

And yet, every day. Up the snow and ice covered mountain, I trek.

Back home, out of my gear, the projects, work and projects, projects and work, and projects seem insurmountable and then, just as I have gotten my head around it, without exception, it will begin to snow.

Such has been the winter of 2008. I am so happy about the projects I am engaged with, but they are packed with delays, frustrations, miscommunications, etc-- and it feels right now all I am doing is climbing a mountain with no end in sight.

That's why I particularly resonated with this small quote I found chez Sepia Art Studio.

"Whatever the struggle, continue the climb.
It may be only one step to the summit."
-Diane Westlake

I don't even know who Diane Westlake is. Guess I need to go google her. Wait, let me add that to my list of. things. to. do.

But, before I go meet my new boyfriend, Sisyphus, let me share one thing I did recently that was pure fun. I was interviewed by the amazing Christine Mason Miller for her website Sparkletopia which is, as you all know, a place I would like to live. Yes, I want to pack my bags and move to Sparkletopia-- they'll let me bring in three dogs, don't you think?

got 2 cents?

All that ice-climbing you're doing must mean you don't need to go to the gym anymore. Bet you look like a supermodel by now.

Dude, you really shouldn't go out with Sisyphus. Sure, he'll tell you it's going to be different this time, but it never is.

Anyplace called Sparkletopia HAS to allow you to bring all your dogs. It must be a rule!
