November 26, 2006 10:21 PM- resistance is futile

The season for shooting deer is now upon us. As a result, I am obliged to don a fluorescent orange hoodie that (I trust) screams DON?T SHOOT whenever I take the dogs for a walk. They each get an equally ugly length of orange fabric that I tie around their necks.

Without exception, when we return from the walk, Ollie?s bedraggled tie hangs below his chest?limp and dripping with mud; he looks like he?s just finished a weekend bender with Dean Martin. Henry, on the other hand, has somehow managed to add another knot to the tie and ensure that it sits jauntily off to one side?bandbox fresh; he looks ready to head into the NPR studio for a guest spot where he?ll discuss the migratory habits of butterflies.

I?d like to capture this image on camera, but they have their genetic disposition and I have mine: lazyass.

Daisy travels around the house in the front pouch of our hoodies more often than not. She is growing so fast I know this will soon be a thing of the past so I caught a shot though it is woefully blurry.

More proof of how different the butterscotch boys are from each other is evidenced in how they play with Daisy. Henry is the more traditional sort and engages in old-fashioned games such as hide-and-seek.

Ollie is more likely to get physical with her. Of course, you can?t blame him as she likes to flirt.

Things always start off innocently enough?a belly rub and then, perhaps, a kiss.

But in no time we?ve got full-on nose to the girl bits.

I?m sure you?d expect me to put down the damn camera and intervene, but this girl needs no help from the sisterhood. Check out the feet to the chest with a swift foot to the neck move. Chuck Norris would be so proud.

OLLIE: Do you think she got all of that on tape? Honestly, I never meant it to go that far.

HENRY: Relax dude, what happens at Soliden stays at Soliden. There are worse crimes--it?s not like you?re a Republican. So you took a whiff of sister poon?do you have any idea what goes down in D.C.? All you gotta do is look respectable. That?s it, chin up.

DAISY: (gagging) AAaaacck! Where am I, West Virginia?

And so another lovely weekend with the brombie mob comes to a close. Hope your holiday was filled with everything you love most.

got 2 cents?

The three of them are so cute! And I'd probably just want to give Daisy belly rubs all day long. I'm so glad to see she can hold her own with her brothers.

They're so cute! I'm envious! Also, with respect to your hunters orange hoodie, you should know that my husband and i just bought two lawn chairs/camping chairs this weekend. I'll give you one guess as to what color they were.

Actually Henry, sorry to break it to you, but what happens in Soliden goes around the world in about 15 minutes flat.

DAISY! ROCKS! :) love the pics and commentary, thanks for posting. Here in our house we routinely "talk Goody", mostly it's me speaking what Goody would say could he speak English, mostly I think he'd say, go away, me sleeping, or look! another dog, give him to me.

Oh, the cuteness! How do you get anything else done with all that surrounds you - between the beauty of Soliden and the adorable antics of the Butterscotch brigade, I'd never be able to stop looking around at it all!

indeed futile. The resistance. But you knew that. Can you tell I come back here 90 times a day to feed on the cuteness? If you find nibble marks on Daisy, it's not Ollie. I just haven't been able to resist the temptation to shove her in my mouth and gnaw on her a little bit. But the drool? Now that's Ollie fer sure.
