November 08, 2006 10:43 AM- burnt lips and a new blue state

This morning my husband bounded out of bed at the sweet hour of 6 am. Sweet for those who are gifted in the art of re-snuggling. Yes, I had already gotten up and let the dogs out and come back to bed. Yes, I was deeply ensconced in a most perfectly executed re-snuggle when wonder boy threw back the covers and jumped out of bed with the excitement of a child on Christmas morning.

?Let?s go see the returns!?

Seriously. I believe my "woot woot woots" of joy may have been unduly muffled by my pillow. Or, you might just have to call me cynical.

I love seeing him suffused with joy. I love when he is happy. However, I just can?t get excited about politics. Sure I?d like to give Bush, Cheney, Rums, Condi, and the Wolf a kick in the teeth and a boiling enema as much as the next person, but I just don?t have any faith in human beings leading us out of the mess human beings have gotten us into.

In happier news, my lip is healing nicely. Perhaps I failed to mention that I had burned it on the woodstove. Sure, you?re thinking, any klutz could burn her mouth on a woodstove, but it wasn?t my upper lip, no?that?s too easy for me. Do you know just how much skill and timing and je ne sais quoi you have to bring to the equation to sear the tender, pink flesh of your lower lip on the cast iron door of a hellaciously hot woodstove?

Much. The answer is much creative dexterity. Let?s just chalk it up to yet another example of my extraordinary ability to drift senselessly through this tactile world.

And now for link-a-palooza!

Remember how I riffed on diamonds being a completely fabricated luxury item? Apparently there is a book that illustrates this and more. I discovered this at beatrice this morning. Looks like an interesting read.

Cut-outs! Spectacular cut-outs which I?m certain need to be seen with the naked eye to appreciate?but still, I?m grateful to Wee for passing on this website of Su Blackwell?s work.

And, I'm finding continued inspriation chez Kelly Rae-- particularly her post with a picture of a bunch of her backgrounds done. That just fired me up more than I can say-- there's a stack of canvases right next to me here just itching for their backrgrounds to begin.

On the horizon--- Tara called last night and we're going to go check out this exhibit tres bientot.

oui! oui! a la prochaine mes petits choux.

got 2 cents?

Am still trying to work out how one burns one's lip upper or lower on a woodstove! It's obviously a hazard; why not send it to me for safekeeping? I am so jealous you have a woodstove...and the views, and the walks, and the dressform and the studio and the lakes etc etc. Sigh...x

truly, claire-- I am a master of inane accidents. In this case, I was on the floor petting Henry, decided to chuck in another log of wood, opened the door (at my face level) and leaned into it to look in first! Lucille Ball has nothing on me.

I must admit, I did get up at 6 to find out whether we kicked out our crooked Republican politicians in Kansas, a die-hard red state, and sure enough, the blue won! I'm ecstatic. And I love those cutouts. Shall bookmark that! Hope your lip gets better.

Yesterday was a good, good day for those of us who have longed for change - hopefully our leaders will actually live up, at least HALFWAY, to our expectations. How cute is T? And how much do you love that basically, Rumsy got his boiling enema? Bless your sweet lip. I hope it's better soon.

The sweet hour of 6am... not a favourite of mine. I much prefer my night owl ways. Glad that lip is healing well... all that senseless drifting through a tactile world will do it every time. see you, g
