Back from the Cape.

It was like dropping off the end of the world into a different dimension of time and space.

The house Tara rents is on a sprawling marsh which normally is not the kind of environment that would entice me--somehow the word 'marsh' brings the idea of 'swamp' to mind, but this was exquisite. It made me think of heaths and Ireland and ancient magic.

There was a long, meandering foot path that wound around the whole thing and we could walk for miles within it-- the first time we did this I didn't have my camera with me because I had no idea! It took us all the way out to the bayside ocean.

Then we'd head to the beach.

I swam and floated and floated and swam until I couldn't feel my fingers. I knew I should get out, but I just couldn't. It was the most incredible sensation-- I'd clamber out only to turn around and dive back in. The pull to be buoyed and tossed about by the ocean was irresistible. It was intoxicating. Finally, I knew I had to get out and still, my body tingled and shimmered for hours after--kind of like when you get a full body massage but more profound.

On Saturday, we went to Provincetown to cheer our friend Nancy who was swimming across the ocean from the lighthouse with a bunch of other people-- it was for a cause, but I don't know which one (sorry)-- and Nancy didn't just swim it, she did the whole swim using the BUTTERFLY stroke! Are you kidding me?

Nancy and Tara, after the swim

She doesn't even look tired!

We wandered from East to West and back again in P-town. It was so, so, so good. And then, I headed home.

One last thing, there was an outdoor shower at the house which was its own delicious experience. I took about 100 shots trying to capture the light and feel of stepping into this sylvan, bamboo enclave where you'd stand naked to let the hot water wash all the sand and salt off your body, but I just couldn't capture what it looked like or how it felt. It was amazing. Below is my best effort, but you're going to have to squint and use your imagination to get a sense of why it was so magical.

Ah, beauty--

Your photos are so beautiful they resemble scenes from a movie. My favorite is the second one down (I guess of Tara) from the side view ? she has a stunning figure and her hair is so thick it reminds me of the woman in Top Gun.

That is truly gorgeous. Someday you'll have to explain how you met all your close friends and why you think the friendships have been as strong as they have been. Not *have* to. I'd just be interested to know. Are you going to the South End Open Studios this coming weekend?

I love your description of being in the ocean. I used to swim a lot as a kid, growing up in Florida. There is nothing like it. It is almost like the ocean is a magickal being itself. I love Her. Miss her.
