September 01, 2007 8:29 AM- racing to beat the internet molasses

Oh how I love the fresh start of a new month and September in particular can be so sweet. Today is swelling breezes in the trees, bright sun and sparkling blue water.

Purchased at Artfest 2006

Last night I zipped up the road to our wee downtown (3 art galleries, general store, espresso shop, historical museum and restaurant and th-th-th-that?s all folks) to pick up some dinner from the restaurant. T had driven up to the Northeast Kingdom and back, a 6-hour round trip, and I had been at my desk all day driven to finish finish finish all the last stuff I need to do to make my final (final!) hand-off to my replacement on Tuesday.

Of course I didn?t finish?but I have 3 days til Tuesday so I stopped?and went to get us some grub. On the way back, the sky was positively holy. We?d had a gray and overcast day but just at early evening, the winds blew out the cloud cover and the sun powered through from a low, westerly angle and the colors! Holy mama?the colors?pinks and purples and blues and reds all wrapped in and around fat, white clouds that trailed soft edges like quilt batting. The overall effect was like looking up into a womb?the way it?s pictured on one of those PBS documentaries?do you know what I mean?

I had no camera, alas?but just as well because I know there?s no way in hell I could have captured it.

So?new day, all feels SO good. I?m sharing some pics here of what?s around me this morning?inspiration and whatnot.

(I made this collage in a class I took this in July --the prompt was "summer"-- I particularly love the quote which you probably can't read that says, "The key is to avoid common taxpayer mistakes, such as letting the IRS know how much money you made, what your name is, or where you live." I also love the red skirt that I made from the paper bag a friend gave me on her return from Japan-- the bag was holding a gift and I'm sure someone else might have tossed it-- but I loved the paper and held on to it for some future purpose as I do with most giftwrap, bags, etc).

Photo of Georgia O'Keeffe that I got in Santa Fe. It sits directly facing me-- I love her spirit and love her watching over me. I particularly like her expression in this photo which you don't often see.

And, private note to Bridgemor?I wish I didn?t have to write this publicly, but I have no other option?your comment yesterday was incredibly kind and helpful to me?thank you so very, very much.

Bisous.

got 2 cents?

You are so very welcome, and public is good, there is no reason to hide or be private about our appreciation, letting others know our experiences and our gratitude has a wonderful way of fostering a community that is understanding, accepting and compasionate, and isn't that the kind of community we would rather live in? Thanks for sharing your studio pics and inspirations.

I've always loved Georgia O'keefe, not for her large feminine flowers that are so popular, but for her feisty spirit. She was not a woman that was easily bowled over. I have one of her quotes glued to my easel. May the creative forces bless you!

I heart September more than any other month. I'm working on some collage-y type cards.. I might have one that would look great with your collection. I'll be in touch sweet BP. Enjoy the rest of the weekend.
