June 25, 2006 8:20 PM- a blue flamingo

As much as I like to think I am a good communicator, clearly I am deluded.

Our trip to Deer Isle, Maine was just a four-day weekend. I was home last Sunday night. T stayed on as part of the journey's purpose was to drop him at the Wooden Boat School for a 2-week course.

I had many plans for my time last week, not the least of which was to post pics and stories from our trip. However, work decided to go all Keifer-Sutherland-in-24 on me and I could barely keep up. Plus, my 16-year old niece and her friend came up to stay with me mid-week to help with the dogs, so nights were about hanging out with them.

So, when I was making allusions to alien abductions, I was trying to say, help. busy. can't write.

Then, Friday night, T surprised me by making the 5.5 hour drive home-- so our weekend became all about bed, movies, scrambled eggs and hash browns, bed, magazines, bed, lobster rolls, onion rings, fried scallops, french fries, bed, breakfast burritos and a long good-bye.

Thus, to get me back on our regular programming-- here is the last pic I'll share from our trip down east. A blue heron-- one of my fave birds cause they look positively pre-historic and evoke strange worlds to me.

I also like to think of them as our version of the pink flamingo, but that's just me.

got 2 cents?

First of all, a wooden boat school? That is cool. Beyond cool, in fact. Secondly, I imagine T's going to be building you two a skiff that you can moon about in... or an ark in case of more rain? Either way, I hope you're going to be posting some pics!

Gorgeous picture of the heron. I love how some of the garden sculptures of them look so much like the real thing. And...nice weekend!

We have blue herons here, too. They eat all the ornamental fish out of our ponds, but they are darn cute.

I wonder if you crossed a blue heron with a pink flamingo if you'd get a flying purple people-eater? Sorry, strange mood tonight! Great pic.

what a sweet cozy weekend with lots of bed! I love herons too -- especially that fabulous crook in their neck; I think it is one of the most perfect shapes in nature! (And thanks for the gargoyle carousel bequeath! If I ever write it I'll dedicate it to you!)

But what an absolutely wonderful way to spend the weekend! My lovely was away last weekend and I woke up Sunday morning with Ruby on one side of my legs and Mr. Big on the other..a very cosy way to wake, surrounded by border collie love! I don't even feel them jump up in the middle of the night...for big dogs, they can be very fleet footed when it suits them

Your weekend sounds a lot like my evening last night...and I was way overdue for that kind of decadence. The best part? Sharing those kinds of moments after so many years together...SO much richer than in the early years. Note to self: Must stop working so hard. Oh yeah, soon I can... ;)

Thank you for allowing me to vicariously travel to Maine with you. I have always fantasized about summers there, and have never been able to go, so this was the next best thing.

I am a fan of herons too. They're just so cool looking. So is T learning how to build wooden boats? That would be a really neat thing to know how to do.

You two crazy kids! I think it was a lazy weekend all around, I spent a lot of time practicing the Prone. Exactly what my soul needed. And don't worry, I am often deluded about my communication skills. You're not alone!

I LOVE DEER ISLE!!! My parents went to Maine before I was born and took the ferry to Deer Isle. So went I went back with them to Maine when I was 13, we recreated their trip. I remember the seals and everything. Thanks for the memories!

How I long for a weekend of bed, tv, my man, food, my man, movies, take out, my man and sleep. It's a beautiful thing when your man traves 5.5 hours to keep you company. Hope things get more peaceful at work!

Ah... whole days in bed... I remember those from about 2002, before I got Responsibility (it's a lot like Catholicism, except without the interesting outfits).

My husband is going to go to this school. That's all there is to it. He deserves a break and he's been wanting to build a wooden boat for the lake. What a wonderfull suggestion! I'm so happy you mentioned it. Xmas present 2006 solved. Done. Thank you. And your weekend sounded scrumptious. :)
