June 23, 2006 7:28 AM- for marilyn

Holy Shit, you guys. I was abducted by aliens!

Just when I was sitting down to post some pictures from day two of our lovely holiday in Maine a strange mist settled down around me. I woke up to find myself on a giant carousel where the lovely painted horses were all hideous gargoyles and I had to keep running as the merry-go-round turned so that the evil twins who were trying to push me off the spinning wheel couldn't get me.

I'm actually writing to you from one of their secret phone booths that I found when I saw that they were going to begin anal probes on the abductees. This is probably where I'm going to have to stay for the next little while, but I'm hoping they return me to Earth in time to watch this Sunday night. Although I must be crazy to want to see Geraldine McEwan in ANYTHING after she gave me nightmares for a hundred years after I saw The Magdalene Sisters.

So. To recap.

Have been abducted. Can't post. In the future we may have to refer to the Maine trip as the 'lost vacation'. Not sure.

But I did slip something up my sleeve that the aliens haven't found yet, so quickly, before they find me, this is for you, my dear Marilyn, lover of clotheslines.

got 2 cents?

I don't mind your absence so long as your vacation is completely worth it! Enjoy your abduction :)

Love it! The colors in those photos are so vivid...just what I needed to brighten my grumpy morning (when my 'ready for summer vacation' self doesn't feel like trudging off to work). :) Thanks, BP! MWAH!

So silly! I LOVE the idea of a gargoyle carousel. Oooohhh... Doesn't that sound like the title of a book? If you're not going to use it can I have it? (heehee) I love clotheslines, too, especially when they're stretched between balconies in narrow alleys of Italian cities where the buildings are all fading peach stucco and blue and burnt sienna. There's color inspiration for your house! Also, I worked in an Italian restaurant that had murals painted to simulate such a scene, and a clothesline stretched overhead from which hung the vintage slip and negligee collection of an octegenarian former beauty queen. So fun! As for Geradline McEwan, I saw the Miss Marple last week and it was weird seeing the evil, evil nun play (god, she was HORRID) such a sweet little lady!

You are so funny... Hey, I have been to Maine and those people seem harmless enough to me. And the lobster rolls...don't get me started. I so wanted Bonnie to accept Bates (instead of Colgate) just so that when I visited, I could eat my fill of lobster rolls!

Well BP, be careful so you don't come back bearing the fruit of some Martian's loins. You know them aliens love those experiments.

You're in Neverland, aren't you? I saw Finding Neverland last night and thought of you the whole time because of your opine.

Now that is one fine clothesline! I wish I could get lost on vacation - oh yes, and travel all over the earth in a blink of an eye and yet be gone for just a moment. You know, like Lucy and the Wardrobe. I hope you are having so much fun and soaking up plenty of sun and love.

Yeah, I heard The Magdalene Sisters was good, but I don't want to see it for fear it will give me nightmares about my religion. Ahhh, vacations in Maine!!

How funny! I did three loads of washing today and here in the land of Oz, we have the Hills Hoist. It's a national Icon, and I'm not joking. They even featured in the closing ceremony of the Sydney Olympics, along with another great Australian, the Victor Mower.
