July 02, 2007 8:17 AM- placeholder

Saturday night, T and I left the house around 8:20 p.m. and headed up the trail behind our house. T had a backpack with a bottle of shiraz, some Vermont cheddar cheese, a granny smith apple, and a flashlight. We brought Daisy along because, you know, she's the good one.

Our goal was to get to the top of the mountain and watch the moon rise--which we did. And it was velly pretty. But then, coming down through the dark woods (full moon decided to hang out behind the clouds) with only one flashlight between us was a wee bit exciting. Especially since the day before I had come upon the biggest black bear I'd ever seen while out with Daisy and Ollie. So at one point, T was getting, how shall I say, a bit conscious of us, deep in the forest-- so I suggested we whistle. Alas, neither of us can carry much of a tune whistling. So I sang-- which trust me, scared more than just a few bears away.

This post is just a placeholder. I needed to get the last one off as I'd hate to offend the delicate sensibilites of Jazz who has made it quite clear she is fed up with bloggers who post through the voice of their pets. To which I say, THANK YOU. I was headed down a slippery slope-- next thing, you'd run across me at the grocery store with my knee-high nylons bagged around at the ankles of my orthopedic shoes, nibbling on kibble.

But this is just a placeholder because I have no time today to recount for you all the cabbages and kings that have been running around this place---soon soon, I hope.

got 2 cents?

The moonrise totally caught us off-guard as we zipped down I-5 last night en route to the airport. It was so huge and orange! I called J on his cell (in the car in front of me) so we could at least share the experience on a 'cellular' level.

You're just the medium for your dogs, in other words? Har! What purdy burdies you've got chowing down there on your feeder. I don't remember seeing the red ones (purple finches, right?) when I was there.

oh! yes, the MOON...not the sun...at first I thought that was the sun, you know, in New England, this is what the SUN would look like, an orange orb in the middle of a dark sky, no more sun for you! whew! so RELIEVED to know it's the moon, I was starting to feel sorry for those of you NE'ers who aren't experiencing 115F degree days...the SUN is HOT here! ...as always Daisy is lovely! :)

I'm so inspired by all your birds, yet cannot quite get it together to ever keep the feeder full around here.. A black bear, how very exciting! Tho I cannot imagine you having anything but a superbly beautiful voice!

Entire blogs written by pets annoy me, not blogs written by pets once in a while. And I grant Ollie, Henry and Daisy full immunity from the wrath of Jazz, because them? Well they're smartasses so it's all good.

Just sitting here, catching up on some much needed blog time, and a goldfinch landed outside the window and I thought: "I could never be so quick to get so lovely a picture." Then I come here, and here is a picture of several delightful birds and to that I say, "Lovely." (And, jealous.)
