March 23, 2004 10:31 AM- daydream details

If I lived in Paris (and I hope to again-- my goal is to live there two months out of every year. Ideally October 15 - December 15), here's what I would do:

wake up and pinch myself to see that I am really here

pull back the drapes and crank the window out so I can breathe in the lightly dieseled air, see the beautiful buildings with their windows still pulled shut tight, and hear the sharp, clear sounds of a woman in high heels walking her dog.

throw on some clothes and head to Le Dome for un grand creme and un croissant

sit and watch the children in navy blue peacoats on their way to school with satchels strapped to their back and un pain chocolat in their hands

I'll spend the morning writing then have a most wonderful lunch at one of my fave restos

afternoon will be spent at place de l'odeon where I'll watch the parisiennes who will reveal what the styles will be in Boston and NYC two years from now

I'll try to limit myself to one maccaron nature per week from the most amazing patissierie on rue Vavin (but I will fail)

evenings will be taking in a film or dinner with friends or a stroll across pont neuf to see all the lights

other weekly pleasures would be going in for un shampoo et brushing with Valerie at Camille Albane. And, magic of all magic, going to the open air market behind Montparnasse (Vanves?) on Wednesday mornings and buying all my fresh veggies and meats from the ruddy-cheeked vendors. Then stopping for fresh flowers on my way home, oh la la

sigh

as thought creates reality, let it be so!

got 2 cents?
