February 09, 2010 7:39 AM- the talking lamp is lit!

artwork and photo by FLORA BOWLEY

Hi kids!

Yes, it's me-- dashing in to splash some sunshine around these four walls because, praise be, we got loads of sunshine in these parts.
(Note to the mid-atlantic states:
THANKS for taking all the snow-->appreciated, muchly!)

No, I have no time to be here chatting with you all.
Yes, I miss you all and want to hang out, catch up, split a wedge of chocolate cake with you.

But here's the thing-- things are starting to get back into pace. I got my CAR back last night at 6pm! Sheesh, nearly 3 weeks later.

And, the biggest hit of registrations are behind us, I think-- 180+ . . woot. Now, it's more in a steady stream which is much more manageable.

I have been thinking that I am truly one of the worst bloggers ever-- not because I don't blog frequently-- there are plenty who do worse than I do, but because I do not respond to comments and hold a dialogue with you all. This must make me seem like some kind of horrible person when in fact, as many of you who actually know me know, means that I am just not the type to get a conversation going in the comment section because then I get all wound up if I respond to ONE I must respond to them ALL, so I simply respond to none and then it is more fair.

And yet-- it must seem to someone (some lovely soul who traipses in here and leaves a sweet comment that never gets acknowledged by me) that I am a total creep.

Sigh-- so what's a girl to do? I can't change my evil ways and begin responding to all comments-- but I have a plan -- starting today-- for the next 7 posts I put up, I will respond to each and every comment.

Why? Because Spring is coming! Yes-- it is, I can feel it-- see all the snow down in Philly and D.C? They are helping me with this illusion because I am having their warm February weather!

But meantime-- here's some WONDERFUL new eye candy, spirit filling stuff in case you don't already know them.

Thanks to June I have this fabulous blog to share with you all:

BRIAN FERRY

Which, if you like gorgeous photography and lovely ruminations about life in London, well-- I think you will enjoy muchly!

And, my total art crush love FLORA BOWLEY has just opened a blog which do check out as she is currently in Bali, swoon-- and blogging from there!

Bisous, E

got 2 cents?

Hey girl, don't beat yourself up over it. I'd say half the bloggers I visit answer comments, half don't. It's your way. I don't think anyone is holding it against you. I have never been acknowledged at lots of blogs, but it doesn't make those bloggers creeps. If my feelings are hurt by that, it's my own insecurities. If it bothers me, I can just not go back. Besides, if you start answering all comments, does that mean the commenters should come back to see your answers? I rarely go and check answers to my comments. I'm not a creep. Well, not most of the time, anyway.

Eye candy indeed! Thanks for sharing. You successfully MADE me ignore the call of the laundry for the entire morning. Who can visit June for the first time and stop reading her posts? Evidently, NOT ME. Plus, I read the help last November and had to read all 96 comments on the bookclub post. My children barely got lunch. Flora's paintings are fantastic, and I am so excited that today is her first blog post, and I got in on the ground level....THANKS! Now I should probably help the twinnies get ready to catch their bus to PM Kindergarten. Oh, and BTW~Jazz is right. Not that I won't come back here to see what you have to say. I usually come back anyway to read other comments because, really? Your comments rock. Glad the work load is becoming less and you can get some rest! xoxo

Megsie-- you are so right! the comments here ROCK and always have done-- part of my sorrow that I don't do more to nurture them because once upon a time-- this comment box was a serious-ass par-TAY and I would post JUST to read the hilarious commentary that would roll out-- twas good and I am SO glad you love all the links and getting hooked into new people-- that is what it is all about-- and anything I can do to help prevent laundry is down with me.

Okay, a, the part where you linked to me has made my life complete. In an I-just-spend-a-champagne-soaked-weekend-with-Jim-Morrison-in-Spain kind of way. Also, I never expect you to answer me in the comments. When did that become a thing? Your blog is your communication to us, our comments are the reply, and your next post is the next comment. Heavens. Is Brian Ferry not the bomb? Does he not make you want to hang in London and eat shiny salads and walk around at sunset and then zip on over for your weekend with Jim? I know!

oh June-- you make me giddy-- although I assure you I could do a champagne soaked weekend (and have, ahem) I think a Jim Morrison weekend would require far heavier substance abuse that I am, most assuredly, not inclined to pursue . . but Spain? oh yes! and Brian Ferry-- such a find!

What a gorgeous piece of art. BP, I am so glad to hear you are getting a break from the usual, soul-crushing NH winter. This El Nino has everything screwed up, because down here we are dreary and grey and cold. I have scraped ice of my car several times since New Years! In SW Florida! And don't think we, your adoring readers, think less of you if you don't respond to comments. We love you just the way you are!

Oh, My darling Ms. Piccola-- you are one of the first people who come to mind when I feel badly because you are so kind and you keep such good contact with me and I take total advantage and never keep up my end-- BUT! the good news is I can ply you with wine on the beach at OBX and that should surely make up for it, non?

Oh, I don't respond to comments always either - well sometimes they demand a response and sometimes they don't seem to. I have no idea if people check back to see my response either. I'm worse at actually clicking through to commenter's blogs and leaving a comment in kind, which is apparently bad form in some areas of the blogosphere but hey ho - only 24 hours in a day and all that. but excuse me, you with the actual emergency phone call to someone you only know blogically (me) and meeting my friend in Boston - name me a reciprocal dialogue queen who would do that. You can't can you? (They'd be too busy with the comment responding) Love you!

And here I was thinking that I seemed to be a creep. But I couldn't resist, chocolate cake, wine on a beach, spirit filling inspiration . . . I couldn't ask for more! On a side note, while typing in the above website, my fingers automatically started typing myinspirations . . . maybe I should start a new blog!

Wow this is a lovely feast.. the blog *and* the comments! Even though it is, as everyone has said, unnecessary. But it's so nice, and how could I resist getting my own little bp comment back in return today! I don't really have any witty or sparkling gems to add to the conversation - just warm feelings and love for your delicious words and you.

I'm voting for Squam 2011 on the Amalfi Coast. (Your vigilant BP-O-MATIC spam filter won't let me link to photos, but if you dig around my blog archives from April 2009, you just might find yourself convinced.) And while I always love comment replies, it's nothing to beat yourself up over. Most of the bloggers I read DON'T give individual replies. Some lovely and motivated individuals do (Lizardek and Megie, I'm looking at you), and I try to confuse the hell out of my readers by responding at random. In summary... meh. :)

ohhhh man. i hesitate to comment because i have the absolute hardest time responding to my comments, too. but i couldn't resist. and now i'm going to also tell you that the page on which you talk about "coquelicot" always reminds me of a french restaurant i went to in madison. the owners were not really french, and they named it cocoliquot which means something entirely different. RANDOM!
