Pray tell, how is the AW thing-y going? Well, aren't you kind to ask.

It is FUCKING amazing.

And I'm not even doing it thoroughly. I totally failed the "no reading" thing. Complete failure. I even read a Robert B. Parker novel Tuesday and Wednesday . . . given how I so rarely read books, how bizarre is that?! I mean, it was almost as if I started a diet and then broke it eating twinkies (gah-- gross) instead of something I really liked. But I am nothing if not perverse and this process is all about self-definition, n'est-ce pas?

What works best for me are the morning pages--- that's where the money is. I have been pretty damn shite on the exercises and the artist dates-- but even just doing the readings and the morning pages has had a HUGE impact so I can't even imagine how it is going for all of you who are doing the full kit & kaboodle.

Of course, perhaps the reason I am so high is that yesterday was Imbolc. Oh, wait-- what am I saying? Groundhog Day. Doh.

That's right--just another commercialized bastardized pagan ritual. So I like the pagan traditions-- shoot me.

A couple of not great descriptions are here, here, and here.

Basically, the celebration of this festival was dedicated to the Goddess Brigid, a triple Goddess who represented inspiration, muse, healing, and the arts. Or, as I would say, she is all about the creativity, new beginnings, and nurturing.

Synchronicity for where I am with AW? Simple coincidence?

I'll let you decide. And while you're at it-- you can answer the following questions, too.

Are there red and white tulips in my office with the sweetest pale green stems you ever did see? At home, did I take a metal, heart-shaped tin and create a bed of tissue and fresh lavender for a small angel creature made of corn husks with a dried poppy head? Did I sprinkle blue corn chips and basmati rice on it and light a deeply fragrant Diptyque Tuberose candle alongside it?

Sigh. You know me too well. Please tell me we haven't reached the point in the relationship where intimacy breeds contempt?

P.S. If any of you have better internet resources for Brigid, Imbolc do let me know-- by email-- if you put any web code in the comments it won't post-- spam killer.

got 2 cents?

Ah, leave it to the Catholic Church to take a fine Pagen holiday and water it down to a rodent coming out of a hole.

That angel creature sounds a little scary. Please tell me there were no flames around that thing. Fire hazard, mos def. I'm glad the AW thing is working so well for you!

Ozma baby, no no worries--- if I can get a picture of her you will see she is not scary at all-- she is lovely. It's my descriptive powers that are sorely lacking.

Thanks, BP, for this little educational moment...I had never heard of this Brigid/St. Bridget thing. Very interesting. And Brigid is certainly more attractive than a ground hog!

Lovin' the banner! I might just have to do the AW thang. For some reason, I have a copy in my bookshelf... although I have no idea where it came from! How's that for weird?!

what an awesome synchronicity with imbolc! i hadn't even thought of that!! it is so bizarre how all the pagan rituals have become the weird holidays we have now...ah well. it's awesome to hear how much you are getting from the book and the mp's thus far. i'm psyched for you!!

Very cool new look, BP! Thank you for the reminder about Brigid...isn't the collective unconscious an awesome thing - no matter how some may try to squash important stories and archetypes, they refuse to stay dead - they keep coming back in one form or another, insisting on being celebrated...I guess that's how immortality works!

love the banner! the colors are so deep and rich and complicated. just perfect. and--yes, morning pages do help you to create a constant thread from day today--if i don't write it's a bit like penelope undoing her weaving at the end of the day only to start again--nothing is created. glad it is helping you to be creative (banner is proof)--any chance cupcakes will result?

I've always loved the look of your blog. I'm loving it even more now. Wish I could comment more eloquently, but the sun is shining in Seattle and the Seahawks are in the Super Bowl. Since one of these events is extremely rare, and the other one impossible, my mind is having more than a little difficulty figuring out whether or not it is awake or dreaming.
