January 10, 2010 2:17 PM- a very sweet sunday

Oh, but it's a quiet house here today.

This morning, as I sat with a cup of coffee on my right and a delicious book in my lap, T took the dogs out for a hike. Poor beasts. When he takes them out, it's for hours at a time and there is much bushwhacking involved. Today's foray, as it was later reported to me, had the four of them climbing up the back side of the mountain, across and then down.

Even Daisy tried to mutiny against this over-the-top* effort, but she was forced to keep rank and home he came with three exhausted dogs. (*sorry, couldn't resist)

And, before you send me emails-- they LOVE to hike long and hard through the snow. They live for this. I, needless to say, was delighted to be surrounded by dogs who wanted nothing more than to nap where ever I happened to be lounging for the rest of the day.

Cause I am one tired puppy myself.

Of course, as I sit here at my desk and realize that we are almost halfway into January and I am still back in pre-Christmas brain-- there's gonna be some catching up I gotta do. Fortunately I have two giant wall calendars (which is how I keep my life in order-- some people have day planners, others use their phone or blackberry-- me? I absolutely cannot survive without big white squares for each day where I scribble in my appointments, etc) and going to set about transferring all those cribbed notes I've been stashing aside until I had the time and place to lay out the year ahead.

So here I am. 2010.

Them's some exhausted looking puppies! Looks like we two are the only low tech holdouts left. My planner? Yellow post-its stuck in whatever book I'm reading at the time, chucked as I finish the "taskÉ and transferred as I finish my book to the next read on my list.

I LOVE your specs for the new year, BP. And your winter wonderland is so lovely. But, I'll have you know that the water fountain in my backyard is frozen solid. And I live in SW Florida! 27 degrees here this morning. World's gone mad!
