January 20, 2009 8:50 AM- open the shutters, throw up the sash!

Dashing through the snow -- well, not quite, seeing as the snow is 16 inches of powder so perhaps I should write, lumbering through the snow and save the verb dashing (through) for what I am doing in this blog.

It's been incredibly beautiful up here in Narnia with thick, thick puffy snow that sparkles in the sunlight, wide expanse of blue, blue sky and not a soul for miles as we walk through the silent hush. Every once in a while, a tree branch will exceeed its limit and a mini snow shower occurs.

After our wonderful, restful holiday, life has revved its motor.

Work is full-on for both of us and over the weekend we had friends visit with their 7-year old twin boys (how fast they grow!) and their dog Vic.

Vic and Daisy are total lovebirds and they spent nearly 24 hours straight wrestling, kissing, sticking tongues into each others mouths and ears and pouncing. There was much with the pouncing.

For our part, it was pretty much a cruise ship style weekend with the main activity consisting of transitioning from breakfast to post-breakfast nibble to lunch to late-lunch snack to dinner to dessert to late-night noshing.

Oof. My tummy hurts.

We all had a good time, but I think Ollie had the best time of all as Gus latched onto Ollie from the moment he arrived and poured on the special love and attention that our old puppy surely deserves, but rarely gets.

It was Olfest all the time.

So-- more busy than reflective of late, but I see some time ahead where I might be able to shift things down into a lower gear and get back to my usual putt-putt pace.

Today, of course, is magic, joy and a heart full of possibility.

Just soak it up, baby. Today we're soaking our hearts in champagne, sloshing around in celebration! Those boys are SO CUTE. And the Obama girls? My new favorite kids (that I don't really know). I love that they didn't wear little matching outfits and they're so natural and yet so well-behaved at the same time!

It's really real! He's our PRESIDENT! Seems too good to be true. Which also seems to be how Ollie felt this weekend. Look at that smile.

I am fairly certain that I want everything in your house. And the house itself. Sigh. Looks too comfortable to leave. Malia and Sasha KILL me with their cuteness. The high-five Sasha gave PRESIDENT Obama after his speech slayed me.

Oh happy day it certainly was!! The man just has to do well with all that positive energy swirling around him, doesn't he? On another note, the thought of your foot drinking a teeny tiny martini has been making me laugh out loud for days now. Cheers!

The boys are definitely bigger and stronger! One of them looks like he will NOT let go of Daisy. ~Yes my dear.. I am walking on a cloud of happiness. Obama has inspired me to do more. It's refreshing. Enjoy the snow. xo

I can see it now, in my future at the ripe age of 98, me telling that I was part of this dynamic historical change that stopped me in my tracks and took my breath away. And how it was a wave everyone can ride.
