December 13, 2008 12:50 PM- can you say, sssssmokin'?

Dear T,

YOU ROCK ME.

Seriously-- do you have ANY idea how utterly cool it was to open my laptop this morning and find your postcard here? Loved it. And? Totally did not spit coffee all over Swirl's gorgeous italian buttery soft silk comforter (as I choked in delight and surprise). Bonus.

But it was a surprise. And fabulous-- and oh my god do I recognize exactly what the icy driveway means. Oh man, do I.

sigh

Poor Henry. Well, at least you've got power--- from the emails I am seeing, many of our neighbors were without power so another hip hip hooray for living solar.

Anyway-- far, far away from the icy kingdom is a land of sunshine and green grass. And wild women in crazy ass smoking boots-- but more of that in a minute.

Yesterday, after a much needed stop for a manicure and pedicure (I felt ever so like a cavewoman as the petite manicurist lifted my mountain paws in her small hands) I was civilized enough to head with the Swirl to a lunch spot where we had healthy tonics (mine was called Liquid Yoga and it was so good), miso soup and veggie fried rice.

Oh. Must pause for a moment of happiness as I savor that memory.

Okay, moving on. From there we went to a uber cool bookstore called Hennessey & Ingalls. Could have spent a few lifetimes browsing about in there, but had a few more places to hit before we headed home to regroup for the evening.

WAIT. I totally forgot to tell you! We also stopped in on Trish, a woman who came to SAW, and she had a new puppy!!! Barely 8 weeks old, little yellow lab named Sadie and I cannot tell you how much discipline I exercised in not sneaking her into my shirt and bringing her home with me. Beyond cute, it was like getting a shot of love straight to the heart. Kind of like that scene in Pulp Fiction when John Travolta shoots adrenaline directly into Uma Thurman's heart-- like that only PUPPYLISH LOVE. So. Good.

Okay-- lost my train of thought. Still thinking about that yummy squiggly puppy belly.

Of course, now I'm missing the dogs. Argh. Please love them up good. Oh, and THANK you for all the laundry and cleaning and vacc'ing--- you are a rock star, my friend.

oops-- gotta run. heading to a yoga class this morning. Ummmm, yoga.

But of course you want to know about the boots. I know you do--- last night: dinner at a fabulous Italian restaurant-- we closed the place. It was oss. And this was the Swirl:

So to paraphrase Garrison Keillor, that's all the news from the west side of L.A. where the women are hot, the men drink green tea and the children have prodigious talent.

YOU = MY LOVE.

got 2 cents?
