December 02, 2008 9:36 AM- diamonds & doggies
In case my students today would like to know why an unwashed woman is standing before them, I will direct them to you. And you can explain that I spent the time I might have been showering out with the dogs snapping pictures on a sunlit morning in the snow.
You see, Jeanine has inspired me. As I fretted (yes, I am known to fret) about how I would ever have time to stop and share what is going on with me these days (rest assured, the same banal drivel as per usual) I read about December Views and I thought, hey! There we go-- too easy. The light is so lovely in December and I'll just take some pics and post them without blathering on and there we go-- blog. set. match.
Alas, no.
It seems, I am not really capable of being a photo blog. I am first, and foremost, a scribbler. And so I have exactly 8 minutes left to get these posted-- get my face washed, get dressed and get out the damn door.
Here we go.
Looks like it's gonna be the Daisy & Ollie show today as Henry had a lot of trouble navigating this snow. Although it sparkles like diamonds, it is hard and sharp like those little glittering rocks, too-- and his dear feet have a great deal of difficulty. So, all photos of Henry showed him grimacing or pleading with me to go out on the gravel road. But, Henry, how could I do my December View shots without sparkly, twinkly snow?
Besides, these two were being so cute today. They sucked up all the camera time.
Now for the science and nature portion of our show.
What I know for sure is the following prints that we came upon are not dogs, nor turkeys, nor deer . . that leaves . . . hmmm?
Okay-- that's it. This post was brought to you with the help of Cassandra Wilson. Her cd Traveling Miles has been playing all morning and oh my, is it lovely.
Bisous ~

amy says: wow! bear paw prints in the snow greeting me this morning in sunny sf! how cool is that? art does require sacrifice... but what is this cold hard scrabble affair without it? do you think henry would tolerate booties? the dignified brow suggests not but it's worth a try... posted on: December 02

Brenda Kula says: Your dogs are so sweet! The photos give me pause. We don't get snow like that. When I lived in Oklahoma, we would sometimes get snow. But we did get our first big frost last night. I am already sad that so many plants will not make it, and I will not see more blooms until spring!
