November 19, 2008 5:58 PM- no words

Go on, guess where I was last night?

Oh, yes-- yes I was and it was utterly fantastic. A more perfect show simply could not exist. I swear, if she had reached into her pocket and scattered birdseed onto the floor, chairs would have gone flying and skulls would have been cracked as people dove to eat them.

She is, in a word, magic.

The wind is HOWLING here tonight. It is cold, cold, cold. Not brisk, not chilly-- COLD with a relentless, killing wind. I think of the animals in the woods around me and can only hope they are tucked in tight.

More soon-- bisous.

Oh. Cold here too. The squirrels are in a frenzy gnawing off the tiny twigs that have managed to retain a brown leaf or two (leaves.) They are rather remarkable creatures...as muth as I bitch about them. As for us, we are tucking up now. The puppy girl has taken to sleeping next to my side of the bed which would be very touching if she didn't snore.... xo miss you you sweet girl.

O how I miss the concert and stage scene in the US (also the time and money to take advantage of it). How lovely! It's getting colder here, too. Tuck in, tuck in!

So glad you enjoyed Jonatha! And yes, bitter cold (17 degrees tonight) and windy as only Kansas can be. Better yet, yesterday it was 64. Ahhh, gotta love it!

Greetings, BP -- this is your long-lost brother writing from the Wilds of the West! No howling winds here just now, but we do have some 12,000 ft. mountains draped in snow all around me..... I know you invited me to post here long ago and I'm sorry I'm only now trying it, but I had to tell you about a youthful memory that popped into my head just a few minutes ago. I was driving home to the beautiful mountain canyon in which I dwell (sadly, around 2200 miles from you and "T") when I came over a rise in the land and had one of our lovely lakes spread out before me..... but by an odd trick of memory, at that very instant I thought of a very different time and place that involved YOU...... do you remember once, many years ago, when several of us decided, at night, to suddenly take a spontaneous drive to the ocean, which was about 2 hrs. away from where we lived in those days..... I must have been 16 or 17 b/c you couldn't drive yet and I was still living at home..... so there we were, trying to get to the OCEAN, close to midnight, when the car's engine blew up (broken head gasket, they said later, that's BAD....) and we were stuck in the middle of nowhere. Somehow we found a kind person who actually drove us all home, which was about 45 min. away..... Anyway, we never did get to the ocean that night, but I think the reason this long ago memory suddenly sprang into my conscious mind was b/c as I was driving, at night, I kept anticipating the joy of getting to the ocean, even though we might not see much until morning, so somewhere in the deep recesses of my brain there was a linkage of ocean-water-joy and even though we never actually enjoyed that experience in that frustrating night, when I had the sudden experience of water-beauty-joy today, somehow the two memories instantly associated in my brain..... Funny how memory plays little tricks and surprises, huh? Despite the zillions of times I have been around oceans and lakes in the years since, the memory that popped forth today was when we were TRYING to get to the ocean and didn't even make it there....... Cheers BP, From the Wild West
