October 01, 2008 10:36 AM- Fallacy Blvd hits Memory Lane
This morning I was determined to put up a post here as I always start the month of October with a post. It's my way of saying, hello world!
Love the first day of the month. Love October. Well, sometimes, today? hmm, well -- I'll have to get back to you on that. . . . but, the point being, I was being motivated by my sense that as it was October 1st, I needed to post to keep up with my long tradition of posting on the first day of my once-upon-a-time favorite month.
However, without any new photos to share and a long list of to-dos on my yellow legal pad here, I had the brilliant idea of simply linking back to all the October 1st posts since I began blogging.
Beee-RILL-iant!
Er, until I discovered, um-- didn't post on day one in 2007.

Or, as it turns out, in 2006.

But surely, SURELY, I am not delusional-- surely I will click on the 2005 post and have my memory, although faulty, redeemed . . um, that's a negatory, good buddy.

This can't be happening. I can't possibly be compelled to post on the first day of October because I have a long (LOOOONG!) tradition of always publishing something on the first day of October to learn that I am, um-- how shall we say, let me put this most delicately, out of my fucking mind?!
Please, I'm on my knees now-- my faith in my own memory banks is on the line here. Don't tell me I need a bailout. Please god, Will 700 billion new brain cells be enough to bring me back into the game?

Holy hell. Not once. NOT ONCE did I ever post on the first day of October. Perhaps you would understand my terror better if you knew that this insignificant erroneous memory is but one of dozens, nay hundreds that I now must question.
Remind me again, who are these three dogs? And why do they keep thumping their tails and smiling up at me?

don't fret - I know what's happening...on the first of October you *think* about doing a post but by the time you've got through your to-do list and mulled it over a bit it is no longer. I know the feeling well...
