July 02, 2008 10:08 AM- wild crows and screaming raspberries

wild raspberries, 1 July 2008

Right around this time, if seasons past are any indication, I drop out of the blog world and immerse myself in the limberlost of this sultry green mountainscape where I live. Oddly, (though I have little to share as my activities seem to drift between savoring old clips of George Carlin on YouTube, sitting in the living room where I either scribble or read with odd choices of music in the background, walking the dogs along dirt roads laden with wild raspberries, or just, you know, sitting and staring out the window which I seem to do quite a bit--) I have yet to experience the call for a temporary shut down of the old bp site. Which is not to say it might not arrive tomorrow, just that it hasn't hit me, to date.

Sounds I have been hearing all morning, rising up from the fog-covered fields, are the screaming of crows. Screaming.

T IM'd me a few minutes ago and I was describing to him the rather Hitchcockian film setting of being surrounded in a gray mist while unseen creatures let loose a seemingly endless series of raucous, scratchy screeches. He suggested it might be crow mating season. That, or perhaps the devil is clawing his way up the hill to come peer in my window and carry me away should he find me engaged in one of the seven deadly sins.

Good thing I'm wearing my garlic clove amulet. And, of course, what devil is going to mess with Cerberus & Company?

got 2 cents?

Please shower Henry with kisses as soon as possible! He is gorgeous! It sounds like T might have a little dark side to him ;) You describing the Hitchcockian atmosphere to him and then him saying it could be the devil clawing his way in! Ahhh! Too funny! I also have a dark side :)

Are you sure you didn't pass through a armoire and end up in an otherworld with screaming raspberries . . .?

wild raspberries, how could the world be better. I do miss the green sometimes, but we didn't have any land to really appreciate it. Dreaming of eating a bowl of wild raspberries and playing with your studdly dogs.

Oh yes, Summer in New Hampshire. How I envy thee. Remember back in January when you were buried in snow and I was bitch enough to post a photo of a sugar-sand beach at 75 degrees. Well, now you get your revenge, BP, what with it being 99 degrees in the shade down here. Please think of me while you're munching on wild raspberries and taking in the lush greenery.

I can't blame you for the annual disappearance. It's been beautiful these days. :)

So glad you aren't feeling inclined to post a closed sign this go (yet anyway). BUT, should you need a bloggy-break, at least I have the comfort of knowing I'll be seeing you come September. Yea, me!

Keep the green hills rolling. They fill my winter days with hazy green dreams of walking alongside you. You might enjoy this site: thebuddhadiaries.blogspot.com/ The art workshops discussed by the author makes me long to exchange my study of humanities for art.

I don't blame you one bit, BP...summer is a great time to just veg...but we will miss your musings if you live in the land that time forgot. I might just go there myself...

Susan says:
The crows that are screaming are the babies. They are old enough to get out of the nest, and they can fly, although they are clumsy. But they aren't very good at finding food yet, so they scream to their mother for food. It makes it a bit less creepy if you know they are just a bunch of babies whining for food.

Scrreaming crows - isn't there a band by that name? If not, there probably should be... Hope your Independence Day was a happy one.

I came back to say, maybe that's why they call a group of them a 'murder of crows'' - since they scream bloody murder... Ok, I'm going away now, before Cerberus and Co. chase me off (though I have to say, I never pictured Cerberus looking quite so cuddly and adorable! :)
