May 24, 2008 10:29 AM- now may I rest in peace

This morning I found the following email in my box:

Hi Elizabeth!
I am writing to you at 2:45 on saturday morning. I know it's late, but I've been up watching Sex and the City on DVD, trying to prepare for the movie that comes out next friday.

I've been having some issues lately, long-running issues actually that, until recently, I haven't put a focused effort toward fixing. About an hour ago I opened a blank Word document and just started writing, just like you had us do with the 10-page freewrite. I started out just writing about petty things and then my thoughts took a turn and I found myself delving deeper into said issues than I have ever looked before. About a page and a half in, I had a breakthrough. I finally figured out the reason behind all of the issues, just by doing what you taught me to do.

I wanted to thank you for teaching me an invaluble lesson. I don't believe that I would have been able to do what I did this morning without having had you for a teacher. I have tried countless other approaches for dealing with this problem, but none have prevailed until now. Thank you, thank you, thank you, for everything you taught me.

I can now die happy. Seriously. Time for me to just roll down the hill and find a nice rock to tuck my body under while it decomposes.

HENRY: This looks like a nice hill for your purposes, but before you go, I want to demonstrate my peace-keeping skills. You see how Daisy is taunting Oliver?

Daisy: Nyah, nyah, nyah, nayah. You can't get me, you old geezer.

Daisy: Oh shit--

Ollie: Glad you think this is a good day to die, little miss.

HENRY: Okay, time for my peace mission. Here I go--

HENRY: Brother, sister-- come now. Let us find the love in our hearts. Let us embrace our differences. Let us --

Daisy: Where's the fun in peace?

Ollie: Oh, come on, Day-Z. Let's show him some peace. Here's some peace for you, Henster.

Daisy: Yeah, yeah-- here's a piece of my ass. Ha ha.

HENRY: That did not go as I planned. sigh

HENRY: I guess I'll forego my mission as a peacemaker and return to what I do best, performance art. Below please find my latest work of art. I call it, "Maple with dog butt."

And, on a totally unrelated note, unless you can connect references to death and a state of absolute satisfaction to this, well, wait-- you can, non? But mostly, I just thought it was so cool as one who has dedicated her summer to the balance between the two hemispheres: left brain, right brain.

got 2 cents?

Oh, BP, I am so happy for you. Being able to have a positive influence on someone's life, to actually help them, is such an amazing gift. You deserve that kind of happiness; to set out to teach or guide, and have it be so rewarding. Relish it!

Bravo! Those moments are (too) rare for teachers, but when they come, it makes life worthwhile. Lovely photos of les chiens and le paysage.

Oh, Henry! If I was a dog I would so go for Henry (no offense to the others-that FACE). The rest of this post, with regards to the stroke gal, is too much for a person that has had a wee bit (understatement) of wine this evening, to process. I'll read it again tomorrow. Oh, BP, whether you know it or not, in sometimes subtle fashion, you are impacting people in positive ways...so, please don't go decomposing.

Congratulations to you! How wonderful. Loved the article in the Times, but why the heck was it in the Fashion & Style section? Is that what they call it when women do science? Sheesh.
