May 04, 2008 4:18 PM- the guilt index

My guilt index is currently at a 'purple alert' level as I was not feeling well enough to give Daisy a big walk yesterday and I'm not giving her even a small one today.

I say Daisy, as Ollie is on my shit list and I'll let you figure out why (HINT: look for the word clue) and Henry has been on the down and out list this week as he had badly hurt his foot and was unable to put any weight on it for days.

((NOTE: our vet is building a new addition to his shop and I can't help but feel like our names should be on a plaque when it is finished.))

And if you didn't know this, Daisy LIVES for her walks; it's definitely the highlight of her day.

For the past ten minutes she's been putting her little head on my thigh and breathing heavily so that I can feel the heat of her desire to go truffle through the forest floor right through the cotton of my sweats. I keep putting her off as T is on his way home and has said he would take her for a big hike. That would be great and move my guilt levels down into the low greens.

I've been sequestered in the studio (yes, I cleaned it. yes, it is now a mess again-- but a different mess, and wow-- who knew I could be shamed for a studio that is not messy enough?!-- but hey, y'all came through, shame is shame-- and it motivated me) because I am working on some pieces to submit for a juried show. I'll be headed down to Boston to deliver them on Tuesday and hanging out there-- home on Thursday, with or without them-- we'll see, fingers crossed.

But wait! The ONE reason I came in here was to share an absolute treasure of a movie-- maybe you've already seen it? Lars and the Real Girl If you have seen it, hell-- why didn't you tell me?? I LOVED this movie. LOVED. I'm going to watch it again tonight (something I almost never do) and am going to write up an opine why (tomorrow, not today) but in the meantime, if you're looking for something to add to your netflix list-- I HIGHLY recommend Lars and the Real Girl.

Yes, I cried-- but that could only be due to hormones-- I'm sure-- because a gentle, keenly intelligent movie with excellent acting focused on deep emotional loss and sadness would never cause me to well up with tears-- I'm not some easy pushover who can get yanked like that.

OLLIE: Pleeeeeeeeeeeease take us for a walk. I prostrate myself before you.

DAISY: I'm about done with you, lady. Get on your feet or I'm gonna start showing you teeth.

got 2 cents?

I guess I have you to myself, BP. Nary another soul to be found on a Sunday afternoon. I want to be the one to figure out the word clue, but as I'm on Vicodin at the moment (I'm in deep doo doo w/ sciatica), I'm slower than usual. The thing that caught my attention was that you aren't feeling well enough to walk Daisy. Hope everything's okay...

I loved Lars and the Real Girl as well -- knew nothing about it and thought it was one of those "Wedding Crasher"-type frat boy movies. What a charming delight! How on earth did that movie ever get made??? It's sensitive and sweet.

Oooh, I love Ryan Gosling. I just put it at the top of my Netflix queue. Still, I'm not sure how much more "deep emotional loss and sadness" I can take from a movie right now. I just watched Gone Baby Gone and man...Of a totally different genre, I'm sure, but I loved it for the amazing acting and the really important (and disturbing) questions it raised.

Hope your feeling better. I went through Mr. Virus the last week in April. I blame it on the excess of pollen in the air! The only drawback is a hangover of forgetfulness. I forgot everything. Everything! I felt like I was in a daze. I blame it on the tree pollen that coats everything in a lime green glow. You have such incredible light streaming into your abode. I just want to jump in the photos and bask. If necessary, I?ll take the walk gladly!

Is it still Henry's foot from when we were there last weekend? :O How fun about your juried show submissions, but what I really want to see is your replacements for the mirror wall!

Oh, I always feel so guilty when Penelope huffs all over me when I should have walked her already... and I added Lars and the Real Girl to the top of my queue!
