April 22, 2008 11:13 AM- levity

EDITED to add: photo below was taken New Year's eve day 2006, not today. I realize now that I do always post photos of the day and perhaps faked you out a bit here by including this old shot. I chose it because the expression on Daisy's face makes me howl with laughter. Thus, my paltry effort at levity . . .

Tap your space bar if you, too, take songs and change the lyrics to fit the case at hand. Probably due to an overabundance of time spent reading and re-reading MAD magazines as kids, T and I do this all. the. time.

Right now? Levity. Sung to the tune of John Mayer's "Gravity".

I mean, please. After the depressing cocktail of angst I served up in my last post, I think a little lightness should be brought to bear on the whole um, unbearableness, non?

Below are a couple of videos that make me feel better. Someday, perhaps before they are dead or carried off by a vicious mob of fisher cats, I'll put the brombies into a video accompanied by hmm, Robert Plant? David Byrne? Sharon Jones and the Dap Kings? That part remains to be seen.

((Of course, this hypothetical video would be predicated on my actually having a video camera -- but, you know, one of these days.))

Okay. Enough. An assortment of amuse-bouches (should you speak the particular variety of Franglais that my husband has created).

FIRST UP, reflections on self-image just in time for summer
(via blossoming soul)

NEXT WE HAVE one for Noah.
(via cute overload)

My favorite part? When the rat ducks between the cat's legs for protection and comfort.

AND FINALLY, lambs! rainbows! puppies!

Okay, okay-- I can't give you rainbows or little lambs, but puppies we got!

got 2 cents?

Dear unbearable sweetness of being....your last post was so poignant. I know exactly what you mean about the disrupted tracks of the wild creatures. And I know about getting the wild feeling in Spring. It can make me feel so disconnected, just when I should be feeling more in touch with life. I head off into the clouds. And sometimes I avoid the windows. I read a great tip about keeping birds from flying into big closed windows. They say if you hang old CDs from fishing line the reflection will keep the birds away. I only know this because I had this happen to me in my old house, again and again, and it was heartbreaking. I never tried the trick because we moved to a house with tiny windows, but I was raiding the dusty CD cabinet the very day our loan came through. Thinking levitacious thoughts for you...but tell me...is that really recent snow in that picture? That would send me into a decidedly unlevitacious spiral. My email is : alex at wingedheels dot com write me babe! xo

I had to peek back to share the puppies with my son. This was not much of a read, if I remember correctly there wasn't any text, Spy vs. Spy was a serious study for myself. I gained much from those whiskered critters.
