April 03, 2008 10:34 AM- the 2-second postcard

Can you see me now?

So it seems, as I run into people that I know,* I recognize them immediately and they look at me a bit askance before I get the big hug. Turns out I don't post enough pictures of myself on this site.

Oh well--- Picture above is on the deck outside our room. My friend Mindy and I are not staying on campus, but in a red brick hotel downtown that makes me feel like I'm on the set of Deadwood. The room is more like an apartment with a full kitchen, huge ceilings, and a deck over the water with a swing.

How does it feel? Like a FREAKING VACATION-- oh man.

Of course, when did I first run into people? Uh, that would be directly after the yoga class I took so there I am looking oh so, how shall we say, not so dolled.

But it was fabulous because it was none other than my darling Liz, and the amazing Kelly Rae, and Kelly's brave mom--brave because it's her first time to Artfest. So we all gathered up and had lunch in a most swoony small bistro.

So good.

Later on, we headed up to Fort Warden and registered, got totally overwhelmed at the dinner with SO. MANY. AMPED-UP. people. Damn. I think people are a little bit excited about making art. In the midst of the madness I saw the luminous shutterfly Michelle and we exchanged about 10 Texas-sized hugs.

Oops-- gotta go.

It's beautiful here. Sunny. Mild with a bit of an edge-- but there is GRASS and BLOOMS and I am happy-- though missing T and the brombies for sure-- if only I could bring them all with me!

Here's the view from the deck yesterday around 4 pm.

And here it is, moments ago--

And, okayyyyyyy, fine-- whatever-- here is a photograph of me in broad daylight. Fine. Whatever.

I am pleased you gave us the whole definition on who you "know". I was beginning to wonder. My question is, the GRASS in Seattle is the sod and turf type? =) I jest! So happy to see you are here enjoying this fine land.

Oh wow oh wow oh wow. What a beautiful place - you look so happy! Am guilty of the same photo elusiveness. There are a lot of people who would only recognise me if I was carrying my cat...also I am starting to worry as I quite often like my blogical friends better than my standing right in front of me friends...

Okay, I have met you in person and that last photo would in no way help me pick you out of a line up. Just sayin'. So glad you're having a fantastic time! Yay!

What a magnificent looking spot, this hotel of yours. And I'm quite enjoying that first shot of the elusive banshee that is bluepoppy. Personal to Claire: Speaking of meeting the blogicals...I was with Lauren/Maitresse yesterday and she said you will soon be meeting in London! That's great. You guys will have fun.

Did I just call you a banshee on your own blog? I meant good fairy of course. Ethereal being. Cute elusive lady ghost. Love the blue window frame and orange-ish brick in that photo.

I love seeing you here so close. What a gorgeous picture of the ferry/sunrise you got! That is our dock. And by "our," I mean the organization for which I work. Can't wait to see you in the flesh.

Like you, I don't much care to have my picture taken. I like to be behind the camera. The camera has never been kind to me when I'm the one in front of it! The sunset was lovely. Brenda
