August 28, 2007 12:39 PM- cool breezes and red leaves

Not sure what to think about this but, of late, I find the only music I want to listen to as I mess about in the studio is opera and, if that weren?t peculiar enough, I seem to particularly enjoy listening to people quavering about love and betrayal on the Welsh BBC so that all the commentary between arias and whatnot is in Gaelic, a language I don?t speak. It's almost like having a strange dream except I'm awake.

All of which is to say, if at some point in the future I mention how much I enjoy wearing velvet smoking jackets, or offer you a pinch of snuff?please, I beg of you, send help at once.

Cluster Sniff

Summer has flown far, far too quickly. As I think I mentioned?we have not had two days next to each other without houseguests since June. I?d like to blame my lack of productivity, the swift passing of my favorite season, and all other manner of trial and tribulation on their pretty little heads, but alas?I love having people here and the truth is I?d be every bit as unproductive left to me own devices.

This morning I brought my camera on our walk with the intention of snapping some pics of ferns for Steph who mentioned how much she liked them?but can?t say I got any inspiring shots?ferns are not my thing green as they are and evocative of rainforests (which equals death by profuse vegetation), at least to me. But here you are Steph, for you, with love and profusion?

OLLIE: You think you're gonna play that number game with me, little Missy?

DAISY: Where's you're sense of humor? I was just playing with you--- oh god--Help, help somebody help!

got 2 cents?

Oh my god, that last picture is killing me. I cannot get enough of those dogs. I have recently moved to an all-green, all-the-time place like you, and I have actually thought of you and how you're all, "Look! More dang green!"

the concept of someone saying that summer is her favorite season is totally alien to me - like hearing a 5 yr old say that brussels sprouts is (are?) his favorite food. summer here in houston makes one long for cooler climes - like bemidji, minnesota in february.

hi bp, pleased to make your day because how often does your blog make mine? only just almost always especially if the pups are involved, unless of course one of them has a stick coming out his side or something horrible like that which is actually fairly often but no, mostly all good good good this blog of yours and i thought maybe you needed to hear just what kind of joy you radiating out into the great beyond here...but hey, a kung-fu kick to the clavicle?... wow, you are one serious zen student! glad to be of service.

It looks lovely. You're lucky that you've had a summer. Ours has been mostly cold and rainy.

I think I need to schedule trips to Soliden in EVERY season just to come and help you organize things and maybe rub your shoulders and also to lay in the window seats stealing books and magazines off your shelves while gazing out the window. Yeah. I could totally do that. Or you could come here. We have no ferns in OUR backyard, though, more's the pity.

oh dear. I feel VERY bad for wordybird. As a fellow former Houstonian now back in my own world of GREEN in Oregon? I can sympathize. (although I'm a favorite season is FALL kinda girl myself) BP-I love Opera too. Just TiVo-ed "Diva" the other day. Hadn't seen it in years! La Wally? ((( swwwoooon!!! ))

That's so cool that you listen to opera while working ... I love to listen to it while gardening. The talking in between warbles does ruin the mood tho, so I think you're onto a good thing with the Gaelic version. Oh, and keep up the kung-fu!

I have the red leaves here too. So bittersweet. But fall is an exquisite last little fling before winter and I love every minute of the crisp days: warm sun, cold shadows. And inevitably at some point I'm going to foist myself upon you, houseguest style--or plead for you to come here to our very unfinished and potentially sunny acorn hosue. I am dying to see what you've been creating in your studio.
