August 20, 2007 10:59 AM- and it was all yellow

If you asked me what I remember most from reading Katherine Graham's autobiography (which was looong, people and spanned the Titanic to Watergate and then some) the first thing that comes to mind is how she and her husband went out to parties or dinners or had people over every night of the week. It left an impression on me. An impression that read, "are you out of your fucking minds?"

Perhaps it's all in the stars and there's nothing to be done when the planets line up and say, "git your ass into a party skirt and don't think about kicking back until I say so." As an example, last night T and I bailed on a wild gathering because we had been out every single night since Tuesday. (I must share that Saturday night we were hanging with Matt Damon's brother and I must be commended for my cool as I did not tell him how merely days ago I had photoshopped a picture of myself draped across the shoulders of his baby brother and posted it to my website. Never say I haven't learned SOMETHING from these reticent Yankees). But here's the kicker-- so we bail on the party and at 8:30 pm we get a call from friends pulling up the drive-- you know, just stopping in--- hey, ya' just gotta roll with it sometimes.

Today? I rolled in the lower field with my homegirl, Da-Z.

got 2 cents?

Friends "just stopping in" ...???! To Soliden? Gimme a break. You're out in BFE, woman, getting to you takes PLANNING. Also GPS and compasses and stuff.

you...wwhhaaa...brother? Eeeek. Jason and I had a lovely time last night. I just love a man who's fluent in so many languages, sensitive, yet can take out three assassins and kill a man with his bare hands in under four seconds...

People over every night of the week? Yes, clearly out of there minds and then some. I doubt I'd even be able to see a single week out. Too, too much. But rolling in the fields... why, it never looked so good. take care, g

I'm with ya, sistah. We've got people in from out of town--darling, sweet people, but I am not cut out for all this socializing. Dying to curl up with a book and not talk to anyone for hours.

I couldn't possibly do the 'every night out' thing. I just love my solitude too much.
