June 05, 2007 9:24 AM- gloom in june

Welcome to June!

Freaking rainforest around here. I am going crazy with all the green and the rain and the rain and the green and the total lack of visible sky. This is not my climate of choice--let it be known. I am all about the southwest?or, south of France, or anywhere with lots of blue sky, bright sun and vast swathes of vista. All this wet, green closing in on me makes me feel like a horror film is growing up around me.

We?re all going a bit stir crazy it seems?look who I found messing around in the guest room.

That rug they?re desecrating was hand-hooked by my nana (her own design?shamrocks and fleur-de-lis for the Irish and French in this clan?now you know how I come by my sentimental schlock) and it was her birthday yesterday. Yes, she left this world many years ago, but I still think of her on June 4th as it was her birthday.

I think she would laugh at these two going at it. She loved dogs and she loved to laugh.

HENRY: You?re not content with simply shaming us in private? You?ve got to publicize this on the web?

HENRY: I?m not thinking of myself, I could care less what you do on your stupid website. I?m thinking of Oliver. He?s the sensitive one. Look how wrecked with embarrassment he is. Find your own damn content, woman, and quit exploiting us.

He?s got a point there. Anyway, today is my big, long, never-ending day that marks the end of my last huge project.

But then, bright and early Thursday morning I head to Chatham for 5 days?for beach beach beach, wait, what's that? The weather promises . . . . MORE RAIN!

Welcome to June, baby.

got 2 cents?

Oh the shame of inter-breed relations! I do hope they were at least using protection...Maybe H &O could form their own website? THey've definitely become minor celebs. Its also gloomy and stormy out here in Western NY... but unlike you- I love it! Look on the bright side BP, there's nothing like a thunderstorm to cool off the old humidex!

It's got to beat last June--do you remember, it rained every day? (I think we had one day in which it didn't rain.) Of course, you are far enough north that maybe you got somewhat different weather. Do you have a garden at all?

I hear you on the rain... but I've been feeling so grateful that every afternoon it's sunny for a spell. You have to come up and lie with me in my big open meadow and watch clouds! {miss you!}

I love your sense of voice. It's wonderful. And in contrast, I love the rain. We're having a thunderstorm right now (as my students are taking exams) and I think it's gorgeous to look at the window and see this. Also love the south of France. And Ireland. What wonderful heritage. What wonderful cultures.

p wants to know if we can bring rose for a walk in your woods. she wants to know if there are arrows in your woods (in the woods near us there are different coloured wooden arrows to follow for different trails) and she wants to know if you tidy up the 'doggy poo' in the woods!

dodo, please tell P that: 1. YES 2. NO 3. NO one of the joys of country living is never having to pick up dog poop . .
