March 03, 2007 4:29 PM- saturday with Red

Red-tailed Hawk, photo by T

Generally speaking, if I use the words "red' and "saturday" in the same sentence you can be fairly sure that I'm talking about wine. However, not today.

This guy has been with us since we first moved in and, as we each have a vast imagination to draw upon, we call him Red.

T took this shot with my camera and a bunch more with his camera that is set up on his telescope but those photos are on regular film-- I know! God, the stone ages.

My very best link for today is to a small gem of a film that I will opine on tomorrow: Bella Martha. Do ignore the association that M name has with that omnipresent penultimate homemaker if that conjures up any adverse reactions and trust me when I tell you it is so lovely--especially the decor of Martha's psychiatrist's office. Oh my god-- talk about Scandinavian style. Yum.

As I say-- opine to come--

___________

UPDATED to add; okay, well-- I'm nothing if not unpredictable and one to follow her moods instead of delivering on a promise--all of which means although I did post an opine this morning it is not for Bella Martha, but for The Wire.

got 2 cents?

Could have been worse, you could have called him "Hawk" (or Hawkeye, haha!), like several of my friends who very imaginatively named their cats: Kitty. That movie looks great, I wonder if it will be coming here to Sweden. I will add to my list to hunt down on DVD if not.

I saw that movie a couple of years ago and remember really liking it. Unfortunately I don't remember much more about it. I do remember Martha talking about sugar and then later having the conversation with someone about sugar and cakes and how much better cakes and pastries are in Europe.

I am so glad to hear of another convert to The Wire. So glad you gave it a shot! it is just so so so good and it only gets better, season by season. Just WAIT for seasons three and four! As for why it's never nominated for awards, I just DO. NOT. UNDERSTAND. And it kills me that so many of those actors don't have more opportunities to do other things -- really makes you see how few roles there ARE for African Americans. How much do you love Omar? How hot is Stringer Bell? I could go on. But I won't. As for Mostly Martha, which it was called when I saw it, it was very sweet -- I heard someone's making an American version. Don't know details.
