February 18, 2007 11:06 AM- this little piggie . . .

Today is T's birthday. Yesterday, he spent three solid hours cooking egg rolls, wontons, shrimp fried rice, beef with mushrooms and garlic, grilled ginger salmon-- all from scratch.

Where was I, you might ask? Well someone had to create silly placecards and those things take time, you know.

I must give a big shout out to Lauren who braved the wild, snow-laden sidewalks of Chinatown to send me the geegaws necessary for a Year of the Pig celebration. Of course, I may have hung up one of the signs upside down-- we'll never know.

Henry, unsurprisingly, expressed great interest in all the goings on with particular attention to those regions of the house where trays of food would be laid out.

Although it's true I didn't cook-- I did get up first this morning to take the dogs out, light the woodstove, make the coffee and clean up after the aftermath of last night's revelry. It seemed the least I could do. Okay, okay it WAS the least I could do, but hey-- I rose to the challenge.

T is now off to bushwhack on skis through the woods with Ollie. The snow has been dropping gently all morning and if you like that kind of white confetti over boughs of dark green look-- then you'd probably think it's pretty out.

This little piggie, however, thinks a nap with two highly snugglable canines is a much preferred option.

got 2 cents?

I love the expression on Henry's face. He looks like a wine connoisseur sniffing at a glass of exceptionally good red wine

Happy Birthday to T! What a fabulous feast! All the nicest people seem to have February birthdays, it seems. And that picture of Miss Daisy is perfectly frame-worthy.

Happy Birthday to the superb Mr T! Isn't it great having men who do all the cooking? I think a little aftermath-cleanup is totally worth it :)

Heh! Feb. 18th is K's birthday too! We spent the day driving through the delta with the dogs and then frolicking in and around the Mississippi River wearing t-shirts under a blue sky. Happy belated to T.!
