Kudzu.

My daily TO DO list is possessed with a capricious, replicating spirit I call Kudzu. How can it grow in this region?! The bitter winter chill should kill the Kudzu.

Alas and alack. The list, it grows. I'm having my very own Sorceror's Apprentice moment up here, people--- I dream of multiplying brooms and water overflowing.

The good news is the projects and tasks are all great (okay, I lie-- I HATE writing grants). Let me restate that. The things on my list are mostly things I very much enjoy doing. The problem is simply that I cannot keep up with them. CANNOT. KEEP. UP.

Not a good state of affairs for this linear, Type-A personality who wants everything neat in a box at the end of the day. Nothing is neat in a box. More like tossed in a giftbag and covered with tissue paper-- you know, the mad dasher's gift-wrapping mainstay.

3. The Year of Living Gorgeously is having a monthly photo contest and the submissions are gorgeous!! Go look at what went in for January if you don't believe me. This month is, er, February-- heh. That's what I like in a photo contest-- no gimmicky nothing.

As for me, you'll see me again sometime in the future when my desk is not piled high with cereal bowls and whatnot. If you look at my (still!) unfinished shelves, you'll see the sweetest blue poppy handkerchief hanging-- a gift from Suze Pereschino who found it antiquing (along with a blue poppy dish! I am, as you can imagine, so touched). It awaits a frame and wallspace of its own which I keep telling it, soon, soon--
