Some links for those of you who may be cruising about this morning with a cup of coffee looking for inspiration.

Foodie Farm Girl
This would totally be me if I wasn't

a) inordinately lazy and
b) a cowardly lion
c) did I mention just how little I get done in a day? No?
Truly, it staggers the mind.

Art Heart
I know, I'm full of surprises, non? Art, heart, and I'm in? Shocking.

Art is Life
A brand new blog. When was the last time you saw someone launch their boat? For me, it's been a long while.

A Place To Bark
I know I have linked here before, but this woman blows me away. If you scroll down and read the story about Noel, make sure you have your tissues or sleeve handy.

All three of our dogs are rescues. I am so indebted to people who save animals every day. We got Daisy because of a woman in Louisiana who saves dogs from kill shelters (if a dog comes in it is destroyed if not removed within 24 hours) and has a friend in Biddeford Pool, Maine who finds homes for them in the Northeast.

Ruby, the Louisiana woman, drives a truck with 15-30 dogs up to Maine to their new homes, then turns around and drives home and does it again. And again.

Here are some photos of the day I picked up Daisy.

We wait in a parking lot near the highway. Finally, the truck arrives and people cheer.

People gather closer to watch as the truck is opened.

We wait until our dog's name is called.

This little guy was such a sweetheart.

And then, there she is in Ruby's arms! The crowd sighs because she is the littlest by far and not making a peep.

What a long trip-- ending in a snuggle, at last, at home, in T's arms.

got 2 cents?

Day after day after day? That is wonderful. How can there be so many puppies in the world that kill shelters are even conceivable?? :(

Yes, rescue is the way to go. I've rescued three so far and I know I've provided them with the total life of luxury - and they deserve it!

I've been reading A place to bark...and meow and Farmgirl for awhile now and cry every single time. The story of Noel made me donate money and little Cary just makes me want to adopt a sheep! Please tell me that truck is climate controlled? I imagine it getting very cold or hot and stuffy. Jane

Oh. My. Gawd. That woman. With the rescue. She's amazing. I love my rescue pups, but I don't have the emotional fortitude to do it day in a day out like she does. I can't even go to the shelters or I'll take every dog home with me. Wow. Just. Wow. And mean people suck. A lot.

It's a truckful of puppies! Yay! It's like all my childhood dreams come true! I guess you could say I rescued our sweet puppy Velcro myself - I did drive four hours to spring him from the pound! He's the sweetest boy and it's breaking our hearts that he may have to go live in the country if we move into student housing after the bambina comes. I swear he's upping the sweetness just to wreak havoc on our hearts.

They only give them 24 hours? That's terrible. My Seamus was at the shelter for two weeks before I came in and fell in love with him. I'm so glad Ruby rescued sweet Daisy.

I love dogs so much but I'm not one of the real animal-obsessed people (I'm more people-obsessed) but 24 HOURS??? ARGH. I think I'm going out to adopt a dog right now. That's horrible!!! She's heartbreakingly cute. Please elaborate more on how little you get done during the day so that I'll feel better about how little I get done during a day.
