August 21, 2006 8:49 AM- for sambelina

It's true; I am not one to seek controversy.

I like calm. I really don't enjoy conflict.

As a result, I rarely put anything out here on this site that will incur violent reactions-- at least I try not to. I'm not interested in the increased amount of traffic you get from sparking a hotly contested opinion.

My site, is a duck pond. Hunters, not allowed.

However, there comes a time in every blogger's life when they must be true to themselves no matter the cost to their tranquil tarn. That day has come.

Though I know I shall lose many of you loyal readers, I must reveal my true nature:

I. LOVE. LEGGINGS

Love.

Am thrilled they are, once again, permitted this Fall season as I have drawers of them and love nothing more than black leggings with black boots and layers. As I type this, my inner ballerina is doing a rond de jambe. She, too, loves the leggings.

I just know this Fall just fits me. It all feels so right. And I do apologize for those of you whose sensibilities I have just scalded. I understand if you want to avert your gaze as we pass in the street. Hell, I understand if you want to cross the street to avoid me.

It's okay. I understand. The Legging People, we are a breed apart.

leggings are cute on people whose thighs do not rub together. hence why you will not see me in leggings this fall.

For you, my darling, it is right. And I am searching my brain to remember when I spoke out against leggings!! I am surprised by how cute they are on various people but for me, no. I am with SuzeQ on why they will not work for some of us out there who were born with THIGHS THAT RUB UP AGAINST EACH OTHER. I am serious. If they could locate the gene for saddlebags, I would have it removed from my future offsprings' delicate DNA structure.

I'm with SuzeQ on this one. The only time I'll wear leggings is in the house. And the only person who will ever see me in leggings is the Mr. Though I love the comfort of them, I will NOT be caught in public wearing them. It seems like the very worst fashion faux pas I've seen are people in leggings who were just too big to pull it off. And there are oh so many of us... My inner ballerina be damned until the day I look like Audrey Hepburn - and hell will probably freeze over before that happens.

With leggings, it's all about how you wear them. Layered in the right fashion they are great. But no one over the age of eighteen should wear them with a denim mini-skirt and heels. OR with a top that does not cover their ass.

I adore my leggings... all 4 pairs... though that's still not enough. I love them for their handiness, for the way they transform an outfit, for their trans season flexibility. Enjoy wearing 'em! cheers, gracia

I used to love leggings, too, when my thighs were a more manageable size...remember, I am the product of hundreds of years of Dutch dairy farmers, who squatted to milk those cows. This produces incredibly strong, and broad, thigh muscles!

Leggings are awesome on people who have the legs for them. But really, that can be said about any clothing item. And they are comfy!

BP, I forgive you. I was a leggings gal way back in my college days...heaven help me!! I have just purchased a hip new version of the bubble skirt (something I swore I would never do!) ..despite having bad memories of the same thing from my year 12 school ball (Aussie version of the Prom..)

Well, I blasted them a few weeks ago on Molly's site, but . . . I'm coming around. My amazing rock-star hairdresser (seriously! she styled Kate Pierson's wigs one time!) was looking amazingly cute on Friday, at 8 months pregnant, wearingin black leggings under a black Forever 21 shirtdress. It worked. And I am in love with much of what is going on for fall this year, too. I think I owe Molly an apology. As usual, I'm coming around to the fashiony East Coast viewpoint. The denim issue of Nylon even finally had me feeling a little shame for still sporting the bootcut. Leggings sure are comfy, I tell you what.

Can I tell you? I love them too. And could never understand why the love of leggings had to be the love that dare not speak its name. All the so-called fashion sites and critics (hello fug girls) kept trashing them. I'm so glad to see I'm not the only one who loves them!

Am totally considering wearing leggings on transatlantic flight next week. Just as comfortable as yoga pants or (gag) juicy sweats but just SO MUCH cuter.
