July 03, 2006 2:19 PM- my heart is full

How often can you hear me tell you how awesome you all are?

Daily? Is daily okay? Cause if you had any idea how much your kind comments meant to me you'd run for office on the sheer magnitude of your generosity.

Naturally, I want to give back. Alas, Soliden has no gardens at this time although the plans for some wonderful gardens are soon to be underway. Will I be deterred from my desire to give you flowers just cause I have no plethora of perennials from which to pluck? But of course not.

I shall walk down the dirt road that links my home to the rest of civilization, such as it is in these parts, and collect for you a bunch of wildflowers.

(Don't tell T I gave these to you as only yesterday I gathered them up and presented them to him because the man, he loves the wild lily.)

The weekend is stretching out langorously. T came home late Saturday night and Tara came up yesterday afternoon. So far we've watched The Secret, Block Party (finally!)-- with more to come.

The home decor project is still moving at a snail's pace although last night we made real progress and installed two pendant lights over the island.

As you can see, our kitchen is woefully white-- still waiting our bold use of color. So far we've tried a woodsy green (see above the refrigerator) which T loves and I am resisting. Can't I have a yellow kitchen? Please, please?

But the lights-- oh how I LOVE the lights! My photos do not do them justice, especially since they are even more evocative at night-- but let's be honest, you don't come here for the photos, do you?

We know why you're here*. And I'm not hurt. I understand. No one could understand more than me the irresistible quality of the one you seek.

He, who shall not be named. He, who can make you rollover with a simple, focused gaze. He, who wants a walk now, and will not be denied.

My lord and master: Henry, the yellow dog.

*I post this especially for Ruby's mum.

got 2 cents?

Merci! The lilies are lovely - my lips are sealed; T need never know. The new lights they are shining bright & beauteous; the photos are fascinating. But, yes, it's Henry's Svengali gaze that draws me back here, like a moth to a candle! Who could resist?

*nodding emphatically* Yes, I agree. Yellow kitchens are so wonderful, so light-ful, so YES. I vote for yellow, too! But I may I just say that I really like it all white as well? What is this, American Kitchen? Thanks for the flowers! And no, no, we will not tell T.

And finally, there is NOTHING more cozy than a yellow (light yellow, mind you, not glaring yellow) kitchen. It makes all the shadows GOLDEN. It makes you want to bake things in pastry. It makes you want to gathe more wildflowers because everything is so sunny in there, and it's sunny even in the gloomy months.

Oh, but we do come here for the pictures - and how did you know I love wild day lillies? (Ooops - I forgot they were for T!) And dear, your kitchen is LUCIOUS! I think a pale yellow would be wonderful - and honestly, looking at the green doors that are there with the white, gives me an idea - why not paint the doors a beautiful pale yellow and leave the cabinet frames white? And of course, we know our dogs are the true rulers of our homes.

my apartment would fit in your kitchen - probably in the refrigerator actually! it looks lovely, as does Henry. And the lights...

No, definitely not the dark green. That would completely close off the space...and it's all about the flow. A luscious pale mellow yellow would be very inviting.

Anytime you want help painting, just drop a line... (I love the open airy feeling of your kitchen, and the flowers--we have yellow and that orangey-red color daylilies in the yard, along with massive hydrangeas.)

Those flowers are lovely. I can't believe they grow wild up there. Down here the only things that grow wild are mosquitos. Your kitchen is gorgeous. Don't change a thing. Or paint like crazy. Either way, you're good.

Henry... Ah Henry. And that forest green would be great. Everyone and their mother has a yellow kitchen. I'm thinking of sage green for mine.. Oh, and the lilies - they are loverly... I guess T and I are along the same lines today. But back to the important stuff: Ah, Henry...

OH BP!!!!!! I love Henry! Though I have seen him before, this really is quite a shot...(he knows how to pose huh???) He and my Mr. Big would be life long friends, of that I have no doubt! As for Ruby? Sadly, she doesn't play nicely with others....she is a lone dog, a mummy's girl. As for the kitchen, I love the white! So clean and crisp. Though I do confess, I had a yellow kitchen in my last house that we renovated, and it was awesome...

That's it! Melanie has brought up a great point - with no babbling whatsoever - you should paint the kitchen yellow to match the butterscotch boys.
