April 16, 2006 2:21 PM- thanksgiving for Easter

Of late, there have been rafters of turkeys in the drive numbering betwen 9 and 12. T has seen the male (rooster?) in flagrant, full out tail spread. I haven't seen that, but I sure have seen them fly as the dogs tear after them. (no worries, no turkeys have been caught by my all-bark pups).

This morning there were two in the drive--not exactly the bunny I was expecting today, but whatevs.

Spent most of the morning cleaning and unpacking and sorting in my studio. Yesterday, I was at the closing of a yarn shop and there was an old dressmaker's form. I asked if it were for sale, too and the answer was yes--10 bucks, woot. T, of course, gave me the big puzzled look as I brought her in the door. I, of course, love her and look forward to seeing how she evolves-- right now I've just put a rope of glittery beads around her neck. Talk about spirit totems!

The dressmaker's form is awesome, esp. for $10 - what a major score! I hope you'll post pics as she evolves. I love your studio space (I'm such an incorrigible looky-loo, I find myself craning to see around the corners :>) Loved the wild turkeys, too - at least Easter's a safer holiday for them to go on walkabout! Happy Easter, BP!

When my grandparents lived in Connecticut they had a wild turkey that frequented her village (yes, she lived in a village). All the neighbors took pride in the turkey. One day someone hit her with their car and the village had a funeral for the turkey. Seriously.

...reminds me sadly of this past thanksgiving, or the day after, when my son roy verrry accidentally hit an errant turkey here on firefly road, and of course killed it. just when that turkey thought it was safe! so sad, all of its cohorts gathered 'round to look at him when roy came back by to check for himself.....dang. i hated to hear about it. they are huge, marvelous birds. i'm very much enjoying your musings, miss 'lizbuth. xo

How does one welcome wild turkeys to one's property, or communicate? They clearly feel very much at home at your home, and absolutely not seriously threatened! Your studio is magic! And the dressform. Made me hyperventilate - I am serious!!! That encounter and purchase had to be fated or pre-ordained. Those things are INCREDIBLY difficult to fine and obtain. I'm thrilled you were "blessed" with its arrival to grace your home!!!

you're a master of montage, and henry is the perfect subject. you should devote an entire site to random pictures followed immediately by henry pictures and let the comments determine his attitude/feeling/response.

Oh my, she's GORGEOUS. I covet. Your studio too is LOVELY. Rafters of turkeys? Is this like a pride of lions, etc? I had no idea... but the turkeys, they're great. There are so many around our house too. They are sooo awkward and gawky--just like I was at 14. :)

I can't believe you only paid ten bucks for her!! I'm so envious! You must be thrilled to get the studio up and running...it's going to be fab my girl! I can not believe the turkeys still dare to come to the back of my kitchen window and raid the bird feeders while Rudy and Dakota are watching form the inside!

It probably says bad things about me that (a) when I saw the turkeys, my first thought was "cranberry sauce", and (b) when I look at the picture of the dressmaker's form, I imagine a ghostly, leering, half-decomposed head atop it, which you can only see at full moon and which makes the form come alive and go on a murderous rampage. I really should stop eating cheese before bedtime.

The dress form is truly divine, and her necklace seems stolen from the White Witch's jewelry box - watch out! You don't want her coming into Soliden and covering those hallowed hills with ice. And turkeys? Are just funny. And is that a jam cupboard I spy in the studio?
