February 14, 2006 11:33 AM- mwah mwah

Oh you love bugs! Thank you all for all of your birthday wishes. It was a fabulous weekend that began Friday night and it?s still going! It?s like the Energizer Bunny Birthday.

This is due to the fact that Valentine?s Day is today (did you forget?) and T?s birthday is Saturday. So, we kind of start with the celebrating and preferential treatment and special little indulgences and let them roll along with our two birthdays operating as bookends on the extravaganza.

Here are some fun (?) facts from our weekend in Wellfleet:

This is our theme song for 2006.

At one point on Saturday night I was wearing the crazy sunglasses and tiara that normally reside on ?Oddball,? the 6?5? roman statue (replete with kilt and boa) in the corner of Nancy?s living room. However, please note that at NO point in the evening was I wearing a lampshade.

I did drop to the floor in a fit of laughter that took me a lifetime to break out of when people started shouting ?she?s a leaper!? as I stood on the edge of the sofa and prepared to dive into the crowd.

As predicted, my husband spent the entire night on the dance floor surrounded by women (what is UP with the men who stand around in the kitchen drinking beer?) And it was me, not him (never him) who caved first and begged to go home because I was asleep on my feet.

People who have B&Bs that are pet-friendly are my new bff. Honestly, having the dogs with us made the weekend so much easier and so much more fun for me.

Driving across the Sagamore Bridge in a rocking blizzard is scary even when it is 6:30 in the morning and by all accounts you are traveling in daylight.

Driving up I93 with NO other cars on the road due to whiteout conditions is like living in our own ?world has ended movie.?

Wondering why there is a squall of blinding snow right in front of us all of a sudden and then realizing we have just come right up ON THE ASS of a plow is scary.

Tumbling into our home sweet home is really beyond my ability to describe.

Global warming is okay by me. Oh hell I might as well tell you, I LOVE global warming. This winter has been the mildest, gentlest, warmest winter of my entire New Hampshire experience. And I love every minute of it and I don?t care if it means we?re all gonna die orange, dehydrated and scabbed over. This has been the best winter EVAH.

*singing* living my life like it's golden golden living my life like it's golden . . .

got 2 cents?

I'm very glad you had so much fun. I hope you think of days like this when you're 80 and you really, really just want to jump off a couch and boogie with a tiara on your head. And then I hope you do it. Now for scolding: What were you thinking driving in that blizzard?!

Happy Birthday. You should make it a happy birthday week. I love reading about how you drove on 93 in the snow--I always freak when driving in the snow but it's eerie and cool when it's just you alone on the road.

What a FUN fun time. And now you crispy fried global warming lover--tell me, you don't miss the snow at all? Just a LITTLE? I wish it snowed once or twice more than it has. Maybe I'll still get my wish (probably when Im driving to visit you!)

i must strenuously object to the loving of the global warming. loving of the T is perfectly acceptable. Loving of the butterscotch boyz is more than perfectly acceptable. Loving on Feb,14th is predicable, but once again acceptable. But global warming? oooo, BP... think of the polar bears. and the penguns. And yours truly, slaving away to create a comic book that illustrates that global warming is very bad indeed. Global warming is heinous. But you? You are fabulousness itself (with or without a tiara).

Stephanie's comment is cracking me up. I hope your week of birthday fabulousness keeps snowballing and that you stop taking your own life in your hands and not drive in anymore blizzards, please. When I read about the big snow coming in the Northeast, I actually thought, "Oh, I hope BP is careful coming home from that crazy dancing party!" I am like an old grandma, whatwith my worrying about people gallivating about.

Elizabeth, I just wanted you to know that I told Linda Hogan about your message, and she is pleased & astonished that you even found that story, which apparently has been published only in the most obscure of places. So you gave her a smile, and I thank you!

I was driving south on 93 then, coming back to Boston from your neck of the woods. :) It was wicked scary, but luckily my boyfriend, the New England native drove. Not that we wanted to drive in whiteout conditions either, but we had to check out of our cabin and had nowhere else to go but home. I had the same end-of-the-world experience, and was so glad to make it back to Cambridge safe and sound! Glad to hear you were safe as well.
