January 10, 2006 7:42 PM- caught, tied, and tagged

Oh Sarcomical. You know you can twist me around your pretty little finger?damn you, woman!

How shall I come to grips with the fact that you have tagged me on a meme and I don?t like to do memes? Sam knows this because she tagged me to do one before Christmas and I just ignored it! Before Christmas! And I ignored it?and yet, she loves me. That?s because she?s a fine, upstanding member of her community and I am, well, hmm, we?ll get to that in a bit.

Memes. So hot that even American Express has created a series of ads around it?have you seen those? So, if it?s good enough for behind-the-times-wanna-be-but-will-never-be-trendsetting-Madison-Avenue-types?then I guess it?s good enough for me.

Here we go.

Seven Things To Do Before I Die:

1. Have a great gathering/party with a series of incredible bands (ideally Van Morrison, John Hiatt, and sundry others would be available and money would be no object . ., but failing that our buds the Swinging Steaks and a fabulous D.J. ) and ALL of my friends and family from near and far. Full out bacchanalia for a long, fat, extended weekend.

2. Write a book that I love.

3. Create a labyrinth (like the one at Grace Cathedral) at Soliden.

4. Go to Scotland, dammit!

5. Grow a beautiful garden.

6. Spend months at a time in France.

7. Take art classes.

Seven Things I Cannot Do:

1. Enjoy crude/vulgar behavior (even when it's meant to be funny).***

2. Tolerate unkindness.

3. Speak Portugese (but I would LOVE to).

4. Be without big hunks of solitude on a regular basis.

5. Participate in organized religion.

6. Play the guitar (but I?d like to).

7. Stop daydreaming.

Seven Things That Attract Me To Blogging:

1. I get to interact with incredibly creative people, but only when I feel like it and as soon as I?ve hit overload I can escape.

2. A place to focus on daily events.

3. Learn new things.

4. Get inspired.

5. Vent.

6. It?s secret.

7. Develop a different side of myself than people in my virtual world ever see.

Seven Things I Say Most Often:

1. That?s it. I?m quitting.

2. Fucking Fuck Fuck You Stupid Fuckhead fuck!

3. I?m too tired.

4. No, thanks.

5. *some silly ridiculous love thing to T*

6. When will I learn?

7. I trust in life.

Seven Books I Love:

1. The Complete Essays of Montaigne

2. Adam Bede, George Eliot

3. Little Witch, Anna Elizabeth Bennett

4. En Famille, Hector Malot

5. Point of No Return, John P. Marquand (eternal thanks, Lizzie!)

6. The House of Mirth, Edith Wharton

7. Wings at my Window, Ada Clapham Govan

Seven Movies I Watch Over and Over Again:

DISCLAIMER: I rarely watch movies so this will be more like additional favorites to what I?ve already posted at o-pine.

1. Chinatown

2. The Last of the Mohicans

3. Moonstruck

4. Rushmore

5. Jean de Florette and Manon des Sources (yes, it?s two movies but it counts as one cause I said so)

6. Small Change

7. It?s A Wonderful Life

See? Chinatown and It?s a Wonderful Life as bookends?don't you just get me now?

And there it is?now, for any of you who enjoy a meme or are so inclined?please feel free to carry this back to your sites, posthaste.

P.S. Sheryl, baby, please no more italics in the comments box, svp? You know I love you, but the italics, not so much.

***Hello? Yes! I know this makes me A PRISS. I know. I am not proud of this-- jeez people, what, you think I don't wish I were hip and cool? do you think I CHOOSE to be a priss? Hell, no-- I was born this way. Now fuck off.

got 2 cents?

I am not a big meme fan either...I will do them but I refuse to tag others. I also will NEVER respond to a chain email...they make me crazy! But it is really interesting to see how your crazy, creative mind works. I would love to watch Last of the Mohicans with you...sighing over Daniel Day Lewis's hot bod and the romance between Nathaniel and Cora. Ahh...

I love memes! They tell you things about someone you might not read in self-chosen entries. And your answers are what make you so unique in this world BP!

Well, I don't respond to chain letters either, but hey - memes - totally different things for some reason. Maybe I'll get around to this one on my blog - it's fun to learn more idiosyncracies about people because then you know you are not alone!

I must redeem myself here - I went back and carefully checked and DID NOT tag you for this seven things meme - I just wrote you about it. Because, if I had done the seven things meme, dancing around the fire at Soliden would be in the category of 'what I want to do in 2006'.

I live in fear of memes - only because I cannot, no cannot think of bright banter and sparkly answers. I'm dry - you know that because you read my last post (bless you, Sweet Pea). And your favorite books. I feel ILLITERATE! I've got to get some livin' done so I have good material for memes!

Yes, yes, come to Scotland! I'm all for that one. I'll show you round! I think one of my "do before I die" items will be "Go back to America and see more of it than I did before". Oh drat. Now I feel compelled to do this meme. Drat, drat.
