January 04, 2006 10:55 AM- whale song

Paris, September 2005

Remember last year how thrilled I was to learn that ducks have regional accents? No, I never could explain why it delighted me so, but whoever can explain the whims of proclivity?

Thus, expect no explanation of why it fuels me to learn that whales have their own regional dialects, too!!

Paris, September 2005

See? It takes so very little to make me happy. So how can I find myself at times overwhelmed by heavy, soul-crushing thoughts? Hmmm, that's just not one I'm going to ponder today.

Nope. Instead, I'm going to savor the long walk I took with the boys this flooded-with-sunshine morning, lick the last greasy crumbs of a perfectly grilled cheese sandwich from my fingers and head to the state capitol with T. We're going on a date! With shopping, pedicure (for me), procuring bath tile (for him) and a fat matinee.

Paris, September 2005

With any luck, I'll stay in the moment and ditch my stupid monkey mind into a snowbank-- headfirst.

A tres bientot.

got 2 cents?

See!? You left out a couple of ingredients from your recipe of your last post...LOVE and mutual commitment and dates. To the North Pole with that monkey mind!

Woohoo, a date! Leave that monkey mind behind, put on your sauciest shoes, and hold hands in the movie theater - all will be well! And that pug's ears are just too sweet and delicious.

And once the monkey mind is ditched, bury it deep... And that comment you left really WAS spooky.

The monkey mind. A phrase and state I know well! I hope you can let it go, let it go, let it go...so that monkey can take a nap.

I am so happy about the following things: a)That you're not doing leftovers of that old recipe, but are getting yummy takeout. b) That whales (& ducks!) have regional dialects - this tickles me no end, also! c) Seeing cute dog pics (this coming Chinese New Year will be the Year of the Dog) d) That you have given me a name for a state of mind I've found difficult to describe when experiencing it - oh, my monkey mind! e) The Artist's Way!

I've read this post three times over the last couple of days and for some reason I kept thinking the pic at the top was Henry, and trying to figure out how he could have been a puppy mere months ago, and what he was doing in Paris. Hee, I'm a little slow on the uptake, but sometimes I get a good giggle out of it.
