October 14, 2005 9:56 AM- art attack

Pictured above is a multimedia piece by Catherine Farish. There is an exhibition of her work happening right now here and I so want to go tomorrow afternoon. It remains to be seen whether I get my butt there or not as the gallery is 2 hours from me and we have a ton of stuff scheduled for tomorrow as it is.

*sigh*

Grrr.

All these stupid life distractions. I want my days to be pure and unfettered with annoyances like earning money, getting groceries, doing laundry, changing sheets, choosing paint, buying door knobs, breathing into a brown paper bag after each gasoline fill-up, etc.

I want my days filled by walking the dogs, playing in my studio, reading, writing, and staring out the window watching the light move across the field.

And I really, really want to go to this exhibit and the reason I am putting it out here is so that I shame myself into going because it is THE highest priority and I cannot let all the other crap take precedent. I cannot. And I know y'all will keep my feet to the fire, so to speak, cause y'all are like my Greek Chorus only better cause you're always chanting truths and encouragement as opposed to the scary-ass Greek Chorus that chants about all I've done wrong and how doomed I am. Doomed.

Things are really lovely right now, however. Despite the dust and dirt everywhere--- and the fact that all my Fall/Winter clothes are in storage because I thought we'd be moved in by now, ah youth. T is very, very tired and stressed and needs some deep rest that I just can't provide to him. He has been on this mission since last December and god, he needs it to finish, and the fact is, it probably won't be done before Thanksgiving. That's just how it is.

Which means it took nearly one full year to build this house. Good thing we didn't know what we were getting into. I think most people wouldn't do half of what they do if they knew what was actually involved.

Kind of why they give us the old mind erase before we come back into this world, non?

got 2 cents?

no don't shame yourself. the artist's way says that is your big bad critic talking. go because it will be wonderful and beautiful and inspiring. and will ultimately help you with all the other millions of yucky things you have to do. and do tell us about it afterward because it looks DEvine. hope your weekend is magical

Go! Go! Go, BP, go! If you're going to be strictly practical about it, there's never time for art, or music, or really good food, or love, or petting the butterscotch boyz, or dreaming big. But a life without those things isn't' much of a life. GO TO THE SHOW. And then snuggle T, because he could use it.

I can only echo what has been said already-Go! Life is short and you'll have to waste precious energy on regret if you miss this. Being practical is one thing but it means nothing when your soul is depleted. I hope you get there.

Dying to know if you end up going or not! ;-) I think you will. You know you really, really want to! Do it. Free yourself from the fetters of CRAP. That picture kind of reminds me of Kandinsky without all the jewel-like stuff in it. Nice ...

I hope you get to go. Any kind of complicated project takes at least 2 or 3 times as long as you think it will.
