March 30, 2005 8:46 AM- could it be could it be

In some parts of the world, the first wisp of Spring is the sight of fresh green grass, or a bold crocus, or the whiff of a blooming hyacinth. Here in the land of endless winter, our early indication that a new season is en route (albeit via horse and buggy on deeply rutted roads) can easily be missed by the depressed peasant whose hunched shoulders keep the gaze downward.

Yet a glance skyward will prove that the trees with their long feelers stretching deep into the earth got the early edition of the news.

She's coming . . . and that slow-ass, lollygagging bitch had better have some serious magic in her trunks. That's all I'm saying.

got 2 cents?

Spring is coming! I saw forsythia buds yesterday morning, which is my main sign of spring. Also, daffodils. And this morning, I went out without a coat. Still in a heavy sweatshirt and with long sleeved shirt under that, but still, no coat!

I stepped in dog poop that has melted out of our glacial front yard. Does that count as a sign of spring?

Well, the Lady Spring is hanging out with me, and she's such a welcome houseguest, but she keeps eating all my chips AND hogging the remote. So I'll be sending her on her way to see you.
