March 20, 2005 9:32 AM- 365 days later

A year ago today I finally knuckled down and began blogging. It wasn't clear to me why I wanted to do this or what I hoped to gain from it but sometimes we do things we don't entirely understand, non? And here I am twelve months later not any more clear what this rather affected, disembodied, self-absorbed (to quote the NYT), digitally-driven endeavor is all about.

I have, of course, learned some things:

Don't randomly change your puppies' food. Their little digestive systems cannot handle it and there will be much suffering for all.

I confess, I am inextricably drawn to all things French.

I missed my calling as a botanist for who else would have discovered scrotum flowers?

Blogging about my addictions seems to increase their power over me.

My alter ego is a smelly Scottish drunk.

It doesn't matter if your husband wants to do everything himself so as to avoid ever having to pay for help because he IS Scottish (though not smelly or drunk). ALWAYS hire movers.

People love a love story.

I had a moniker and I didn't know it. Thank you, gatsby!

My dogs are trying to teach me something.

I have met the greatest people ever in blogland and that's all that really matters because I love connecting with you all and feel so lucky that you want to connect with me.

Have I spilled over into the longest post ever? Perhaps-- but it is still not finished because how could I talk about the past year without mentioning the pups? And how they've grown?

Things that have not changed about the pups is that it is nearly impossible to get a picture of Ollie when he is not blurred, out of focus, or has his eyes closed. Au contraire, Henry is a vamp who makes love to the camera.

You don't believe me, do you? You think I pose Henry and tell him to "work it for me baby." You think I exploit my dog for canine sexual come-ons to sell on the internet for profit. Well then, explain this photo (below). Is he not begging me to submit a video to "America's Top Model?" I rest my case.

And lastly, there is Soliden.

As of yesterday:

And, this is a view of my office. Where I'll be a year from now reflecting on the year just past . . . god willing and the creeks don't rise.

got 2 cents?

Your puppies are adorable! Look at the personality! Your house is coming along nicely. It must be hard to build in the winter. I live in Florida, so we don't have the challenges of snow. We have hurricanes, instead. Happy Blog Anniversary! Thank you for sharing and keeping us laughing.

Only a year? It seems like you've been dispensing humor, great writing, wonderful photographs and spreading the bloggy love much longer than that. Probably because I can't envision a time without you now that I've got you in my life :) *breaks into song*

Really? Only a year? Gee, I thought you'd been blogging longer than me. When I found you (and now I can't remember how I did...but who cares?) I thought you were already blog royalty...a blogging superstar. I thought surely that everyone read BP. EVERYONE, dahling. I think you must have arrived in the blogosphere with your full blogging mojo goin' on. As for the pups, well, I'm completely smitten with Henry. And yes, the camera does love him. And Soliden? WOW. It's going up FAST...or at least it seems that way to me, given the weather conditions. Here's to another FABULOUS year! Won't it be fun 365 days from now to look back on what this coming year will bring?! :)

BP, I was wondering if you've got an RSS feed for your blog? I quite often use a newsreader thing to read blogs if I'm at work as it's faster - if you do have an RSS feed could you possibly let me know? Much thanks! :-)

sorry Croila baby--- no RSS, no linkety-links, no trackbacks . . . and as a result? NO SPAM-- no trolls . etc. But I do apologize for the failings of my non-traditional site.

A very happy blogiversary to my fairyblogmother - you've been an amazing friend and inspiration. Your puppies are beautiful, and Soliden! It's growing so fast! Also loved all the referenced posts - I remember them all! And I also remember when you took a break and I sent you pitiful emails like, 'I miss you! Can't wait til August!' You are dearly beloved, and no one deserves it more.

It is crazy to me that you have only been blogging for a year! You are such a pro... but that is what happens when you are such a good writer. Those boys are just too cute... Henry looked like a suave gentleman even as a puppy! That over the shoulder picture made me laugh out loud... hehe. What a tease. Soliden is looking like a real house now! So exciting to see it moving along. Happy Blog Anniversary, BP! You make the internet a fun place to visit. :)
