February 22, 2005 3:40 PM- on holiday

So I'm in this internet cafe on the third floor of a redbrick building on Newbury Street in Boston and I get this email:

helloooo favorite bluepoppy

I know I have NO RIGHT to ask anyone who neglects to post if they are still alive, but just want to make sure you are okay. ?It may be snowing where you live, but it's nearly eighty degrees here. ?I love it!

Happy Tuesday, friend!

p.s. ?I found my wedding dress on Saturday. ?Will post about it soon.

Sam

She BOUGHT HER WEDDING DRESS ON SATURDAY!! Really, Miss Little Sambook, what on earth are you doing worrying about where I am when you have a WEDDING DRESS to gaze upon?! This should wipe the time/thought continum right from your brain. Gone. Yes, I have a thing for weddings and wedding dresses. I do. Mea culpa. What can I say? Show me another outrageous ritual in this contemporary culture-- really, show me. Do we have a coming of age ritual? Do we have celebrations that welcome in the seasons with bells on our ankles, flowers in our hair and blue painted faces? No. We don't. So until we get some of that wild times back into the regular flow of our lives as opposed to my wild bonfire parties up in the north woods and bacchanalian dinner parties that end up with guests sleeping under rhodedendron bushes--- I will cherish the absolute yum of our ONE permitted ritual-- the wedding.

So Sam, you are sweet and it's true I haven't posted in days-- what can I say? the cold, the snow, the CABIN FEVER-- but hellooooooo, have you posted more than once a month since the engagement? Hmm? No, I didn't think so. But I don't have quite the same excuse, now do I?

No pictures at this time as my camera is in my car--- but perhaps there will be some photographic evidence of this week's foray into the cit-tay. Still, I was 15 minutes late to my hair appointment with Jennifer at Salon Luna in Cambridge-- my NEW LOVE. I love her. I do. I didn't know how woolly woolly WOOLLY I had gone up in dem dere hills until she set me to right. And do I feel right? Soooo right. And how did I find Jennifer the amazing? From a BLOG! YES, a blog. At Amalah's. Someone commented chez Amalah about this place and I went and it was gooood. now I have to let Amalah know so she can tell her reader (who now lives in NYC) and we can go-- how cool is blogville? I ask you.

My time is running out on this computer. Time for me to go meet Ta and head to her gym for some yoga. If I'm not back before Saturday, it's cause I'm walking the city streets or hiding in the dark of an afternoon matinee or sitting in a cafe reworking the last scene of the play which -- OH, I haven't told you-- is having a reading last week of March and the head of the theater wants to put it on in August!!! Right now, I am so so excited. As it approaches, i will have absolute terror and hate myself. But at least I have been through it before so I know what to expect.

Weirdest thing? Last night I dreamt I slit my throat with a knife and was rushed to the emergency room? Why? Why would I dream that? Okay TMI-- no filter here as I type raw into the computer. I'm shutting myself down.

Oh and HEY-- I have more book reviews for y'all--- see, Sam? I maybe gone but I'm percolating . . . asta.

got 2 cents?

Yay, you're alive! I had actually wanted to email if you'd gone another day or so without posting, but thought it might be all stalkerish, so I'm glad to see that I didn't have to! *sigh* Cambridge, Newbury Street, so many memories come back unbidden...

Couldn't you just kill Sam for not telling?? I was there, saw it and cried and everything, and was still pissed when she didn't blog about it IMMEDIATELY. People need to know these things. And may I just say? The dress couldn't be anymore perfect for her. It was AMAZING.
