February 12, 2005 10:11 AM- if I were a bell . . .

Thank you for all your sweet wishes. You do know that your comments and interest and support mean so much to me-- not the least because I am an eccentric in real life and have no friends that I share with so intimately. But mostly because you give me a sense of connection to this world that I normally don't get from people. Dogs and flowers, yes. People, no.

It was a lovely day and as someone pointed out to me-- the same birthday as Jennifer Aniston and Sheryl Crow. Good company. Of course, being me, I always associated it with the day Sylvia Plath snuffed herself. But that was the OLD me . . did you not see that positive (if saccharine) affirmation my past self sent to my furture self? Proof in the email. As much as a cynical, negative outlook is more comfortable and more "cool," I am headed for the blissful zen state of just being with what is. No judgement. Less angst. More peace.

That's what old age can bring you.

That and some blue poppy wrapping paper!! From T. Is he not adorable? Where in hell did he find that, I'll never know. . . but he is very cute (and very sick with a terrible flu/cold, poor baby) and I can't wait to spoil him next week when it is his birthday.

For Auntie M, who asked about the book-- yesterday (on my birthday!) I received the full drafts with illustrations etc for final approval and a phone call from a Columbus OH newspaper for an interview. Very exciting stuff. However, now that June 05 (book launch) is less than 5 months away, I think I can safely tell you more about that book.

It is a gift book for college students ala The Preppy Guide Handbook thing-y for some of you old-timers out there-- although it has NOTHING to do with preppiness. I use that as an example so that you see it is just an idea/concept book--- hence all the secrecy.

I promise, come June 05-- you will get the FULL details, and helas--- I will have to deal with the fact of revealing my true identity here . . not sure what that will mean for me. Will I close down bluepoppy and open another blog? Will I keep bluepoppy open with my identity revealed? (Veddy unlikely) . . hmmm, not going to deal with that right now. For the next four months I have my little scene here. I will cross that bridge when I get there.

For today? Bring on the pink!

got 2 cents?

Beautiful photos. No way you can print the book with a pseudonym? Hope your biethday was happy, and that you get a little more celebrating in next week when T feels better.

Awww, you got blue poppy wrapping paper for your birthday! Of course, you probably got some very cool things inside them, too. Happy birthday fishes, er, wishes! I know what you mean about being eccentric and having deeper ties with people in this setting than in 'real' life. What is real, anyway? What makes having tea with somebody more real than exchanging comments in a blog over months? I'd hate to see the end of this blog, though! I hope that, if you did decide to up stakes and move elsewhere, that you might clue a few of us in as to where, so we can follow and keep up with our daily quotas of cool photos and such.

your post certainly gave me chills today. I can only imagine seeing something of you so tangibly represented a-la the pictures and print of the book - was very moving. best wishes for a peaceful yet wonderful year full of people who make you feel special about who and where you are in your existance. lizard.

we should all just change chairs like a bloggy cakewalk. my opinion? glad you asked. don't put your fortress of solitude on the map and keep your job with the daily planet; think of lois. (would T be lois?) i got nothing.

I'm a Cols native... was it the Dispatch? Has the stuff been printed yet (or is this all still under the secret blanket for another 5 months)?

Happy Birthday! I can relate to the feeling that my life is more social on the internet with people I have never even met. Sometimes I think I should break away and live more in the physical world around me but I know that I would be lonlier.

Well, Real Live Preacher managed to reveal his identity when his book came out PLUS hold on to his blog, although it HAS changed, and so, I'm sure, has he. I'm willing to lay odds that everyone's favorite fabulist can find a way to reconcile her 2 worlds as well. Can't wait to hear more about the book(s)!

As always, beautiful pictures. It must be painful to drive away from that to your job, unless your job is actually that of a forest ranger, and you've just been laying down red herrings for us about your workplace. I'm so happy for you that the book is becoming ever-more tangible, but I'm selfishly hoping you'll find a way to continue blogging even after it comes out.

That wrapping paper is so pretty- bet he has been saving that to bring out at just the right time! That is something to think about... maybe you could just have people leave comments if they want to know your book title and you could email them? Then you have a little control over who it goes out to? That may not really work though...hmm.
